Such a tragic event to happen for Germany just a day after they celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

A country and world football will be in mourning tonight. RIP.

P.S. RIP, very tragic accident.

There was a particularly tragic death here on the 26 October, just 5 days before Hallowe'en. It was very spooky.

The german fa and police are reporting it as suicide, so tragic, as the german nation celebrate 20 years since the berlin wall fell to it's own suicide, so apt, that the german keeper, often regarded himself as a metophorical wall in goal, should himself, commit suicide.

Poolie of kent your method of thinking is like nothing i've ever come across in my life, your so far out the fucking box your a bastard equilateral triangle.

Added to which, the fall of the Berlin Wall was the biggest economic disaster in the Germany's history so it's not really an occasion that they celebrate. The East Germans loved it the West Germans hated it.

Shame about the 'keeper like.... sadx

My mam and dad also went through the tragedy of losing a child before I was born, thankfully they had each other as support to get through such a difficult time.
I obviously don't know the details of this mans family circumstances but even if he had family around him it just goes to show people take events like this in all different ways.
It's a real shame his life has ended in this way.

R.I.P.

Bloody hell, thats REALLY put things in perspective. sadx

Not meaning to be dramatic here but it either makes or breaks you. You can get yourself so low with sorrow for yourself or you can try to come to terms with it.
I had fantastic support from family and friends and came through it stronger. The way I look at it is there is nothing that can happen to me that can surpass that experience. All of a sudden you can cope with anything.
The German lad has a history of depression so it would have been harder for him.

Yeah, but nobody can ignore the fact that on day the whole of Germany was celebrating probably the greatest day in their history, they're happy and then the next day, they hear this.

The Germans will be gutted.

A tragic story yes and extremely sad what's happened to this bloke after probably going through the worst thing that can happen to a human- losing a child BUT;

I'm sorry but that has just made me laugh out loud. POK I think your response to nuclear Armageddon would probably raise a smile!

Will the whole of Germany be in mourning though POK?

I very much doubt it

Why not leave it to his family and close friend to mourn, rather than this constant intrusion into other peoples grief

Well, they've cancelled the game against Chile as a mark of respect.

It's the top story on the news on das Erste, Germany's main television broadcaster.

The whole of Germany may not be in mourning, but it's fair to say that this will affect a huge number of people.

Thank god indeed, we'd certainly have egg on our faces if that happened!

And how apt it would be if it did happen, in the year we celebrate the 11 year anniversary of the release of the film... Armageddon.

Yeah alright, I know some in the East aren't happy and believe that the West Germans are taking away jobs from them and some West Germans aren't happy they're having to pay for transforming the East after unification etc, but...

the night of the 9th November 1989 has given the greatest story of the power that people have through peaceful revolution and the will that people have to be free and united, that the world has ever seen.

It was East Germany and communism that was the biggest economic disaster in the world.

I can't watch the You Tube thing, the big nasty communists have blocked it, but I can say without hesitation or demur that all your points of view are popularist soundbites.

The whole thing was a cock-up on a TV show which led the East Berliners to believe that they instantly had freedom of travel. So many of them turned up at Checkpoint Charlie claiming that the rules had changed, that the Vopo's didn't know what to believe. By this time it was three in the morning and anyone who could confirm or otherwise was unavailable. The crowd was growing and the Captain of the watch made an on the spot decision and hey presto, West Germany was fu cked.

Have you ever been to Berlin?? Ever had a look at the sites, the places that are probably in your You Tube clip?? Read the boards? Do you speak German?? Do you know why East Germany was Russian controlled and who signed that agreement?? Do you know why the wall went up in the first place??

Or hasn't some journalist or politician conveniently invented a catch phrase for all that?? stpid

The other thing is, why do people have to be 'freed' from communism?? I live under a Communist Regime as does my wife, friends and family and we're all as free as birds. There's an element of control, but with a population this size there simply has to be. It's when you have to deal with the British Embassy that you meet contempt, disdain, dismissal and high handedness. As for Communist economics, who's rapidly approaching being the leading economy in the world??

Yeah, those nasty Stalinists........

Of course your all free as birds, after all Communism is a socioeconomic structure and political ideology that promotes the establishment of an egalitarian, classless, stateless society based on common ownership and control of the means of production and property in general. Karl Marx posited that communism would be the final stage in human society, which would be achieved through a proletarian revolution. "Pure communism" in the Marxian sense refers to a classless, stateless and oppression-free society where decisions on what to produce and what policies to pursue are made democratically, allowing every member of society to participate in the decision-making process in both the political and economic spheres of life. In modern usage, communism is often used to refer to Bolshevism or Marxism-Leninism and the policies of the various communist states who had government ownership of all the means of production and centrally planned economies.

Careful you don't turn into another Capitalist country and spoil it all.

I thought someone had mentioned that on this thread, it must have been on Darlo Uncovered thread I read it. But it is a good point, the driver is certain to be affected, and he/she shouldn't have to be.
