Can't possibly decide which of Cliff Richard's songs is the worst, so what about 'Octopus's Garden' by Ringo?

I assume you mean Cognoscenti vs. Intelligentsia by The Cuban Boys

To link with jish's thread, that was #1 in the John Peel Festive 50 of that year!

I didnt know that but to be fair it was a terrible song.

Are you like the Guru of knowledge on here as every question I see on here you have the answer or do you do a lot of google searches?

...any of today's chart shite.

The day it all turned into dance/trance remix and dub, real music curled up its toes and died.

Why can't anyone play a guitar anymore?

Not a bad point of view ten years ago but not very current.

The last ten years appear to have been about guitar band. The mainstream chart success that bands like The Libertines, The Enemy etc have had was unparalleled in the 80s and 90s.

The 80s were so devoid of mainstream decent guitar bands that I thought for all the rest of my life I would embrace any guitar based band that had success and just thank the lord that they weren't SAW shite. Then Razorlight changed my mind.

Too many bad songs to choose just one from. The biggest disappointment I can ever remember feeling in music was when The Stone Roses had the world in their hands - took months off- then released 'One Love'. Garbage.

How about Eric Clapton's cynical commercial excercise 'Tears in Heaven'........how he could do that in the circumstances beggars belief.

I think I've claimed the moral high ground with that one.

oh I dunno - some of those 70's ones were so bad and twee, they were actually brilliant!!! I defy any good or normal songwriter to have concocted any of those!!!

Fair call on the Libertines, Padraig.

However, Busted and McFly also played guitar pop.

Didn't stop them being shite though :coool:
