A real pity. If he had stayed fit then he would have been an excellent signing.

Interesting point, but were we paying him wages. he was out of contract, with the proviso that if he proved his fitness, he would be offered a new contract. Or that was my thinking.

No he wouldn't have been. Fact.

I never particularly liked the way Boland never applauded the fans and always walked straight off after a game. For that reason I don't really give a sh*t what happens to him now he has retired.

It is though. Nobody likes to see any present first team player retire suddenly through injury.

Aye, maybe you're right.

OH FOR GODS SAKE MAN. JUST GIVE IT A REST. I deliberately ignore 90% of your posts but some of them just warrant criticism. You bring all this 'bullying' shiit on yourself and to be quite honest you deserve a lot of it.

If you are deliberately fishing for a bite all the time then credit to you, you are VERY good at it.

more importantly, were we withholding part of the wage budget in case he proved his fitness? If we were will that wage now be available for another signing?

well he only has to pay 50p then. I cant believe it I am looking distantly out of my office window thinking of all the good things mr boland has done for the club and what a shame a brilliant career has been cut short. I think that pools should hold a meeting immediatly and get him behind the sceens at pools as someone of his stature can only do well for the club.

I knew it was coming bri, i'd prepared myself for this moment, but nothing, and i mean nothing, can prepare you for the shock news of a 35 year old journey man midfielder, who hasn't actually played for us since last august, retiring, nothing at all.

Just heard the people of Ennis have been hit hard by the news they have appealed to local businesses to have a wip round as they are going to erect a Boland statue in the town square for his contribution to football.
