...got Man of the Match last night for half an hour on the pitch.

That must have pleased the players who were on there working their socks off the full 90 minutes.

Steve Bruce chosen him as motm. When asked for the reason why it was something along the lines of "The atmosphere improved when he come on, it lifted the game" sctatchinghead

Maybe some of the bizarre motm decisions at Pools over the past 6 months have been for such ridiculous reasons.

I can't stand all the hype around England's football team. The sooner they are eliminated from the World Cup the better. Hopefully the group stages without a point and without a single goal.

The decision (which wasn't particularly undeserved) said more about the others playing rather than Beckham's performance. I actually like watching Beckham playing the older he gets and I appreciate his contribution more than I have done previously.

Agbonglahor didn't get any service all night and had a minimal impact on the game which is a shame for the lad, if Beckham had been playing the combination of the two could have been deadly against them last night.

It was a strange decision but if you look at Beckhams performance in the 35 minutes he was on and compare it the the others it was hardly 'ridiculous' he changed the whole tempo and completely bossed the game, I enjoyed watching him. His spell at Milan and playing more of a holding role in the Yank Mickey Mouse League has probably improved him as a player.

Anyone who suggests he isn't among our best twenty odd available players is a dodge pot.

he doesn't need to be a jock to feel like this.

I am English born and bred and feel exactly the same way about the England national team. Stopped watching several years ago, don't watch now and won't watch during the World Cup. Over hyped, over rated and over paid.

And before any questions my username referring to Aberdeen......I moved here and can assure you I am as English as they come.

He was brilliant, and is still our best right winger.

No one in our team, rooney aside, can do with a football what he can.

I fully understand why anyone would show apathy towards the English national team and would never criticise anyone for holding that feeling, I've been there myself loads of time but I'm prepared to give Capello a chance and he has more than proved himself so far.

We're a strong outfit with an excellent manager, we're probably a little lightweight upfront in terms of strength in depth but otherwise there is a lot of quality throughout the team. We'll be there or thereabouts next years and with a bit of luck you never just known. We'll probably 'fail' like usual but they'll have my support.

me mam's from Wales originally, but yes I'm English and I stand by what I said about England's football team. Bunch of overpaid premiership wan-kers. I hate the premiership, hence I also hate the players who play for England.

Hartlepool United for me and that's it.

When you look at the way the country went mad when we won the Ashes for the first time in 20 years in 2005, just think what will happen if we win the WC in 2010.

I went to Portugal in 2004 and Germany in 2006. I haven't attended a game since for the reasons that Parmo and Mutley have made clear.

However............ I like Capello. None of this 'Stevie G' or 'Becks' shite from him. Any tomfoolery and they will be sacked. They have to call him Sir and he means it. Any of this lot want to be primadonnas and they'll not be in SA.

I'm toying with having a trip to Zotland next year.
