Can't believe nobody's posted their "marks out of 10" for todays game.

Flinders - 6 - Looked reasonably solid, though flapped at one cross second half. Wouldn't lay too much blame for the goal.
Haslam - 5 - was getting some fearful stick from a guy in the Mill House seats. Don't think he was that bad.Unspectacular but no worse than we've had in there since Micky Barron last kicked a ball for Pools.
Hartley - 3 - Looks as if it's all a bit too much for him at the mo. Not a recognised full back as we're all aware. I thought he'd been taken out by a sniper when he went down as there didn't seem to be an opponent anywhere near him!
Liddle- 6 - Steady away. Just wish he'd use the ball a bit more positively. I can't believe he thinks he's a less skillful player than Sam Collins yet I lost count of the number of times he played the ball square/backwards for Sammy to hoist it on to an opposition head.
Collins - 6 - Again, had a steady game and looks to be back to the player we know he can be
McSweeney- 6 - Still waiting for this fella to show me what he's capable of. Don't think he's a genuine winger as I don't believe I've seen him get by an opponent in the 3 games I've witnessed.Plenty of energy but can he play a "killer" ball? Desperate lack of ammunition for the front two and he should be one of the suppliers.
Jones - 5 - Not involved enough for a central midfielder and wouldn't back him in a 50-50 tackle ( or a 60-40, 70-30 ..........) I'm expecting more quality from an ex Man U player.
Sweeney - 3 - Looks hopelessly out of his depth in the middle of midfield. I'm a Sweeney fan but he just isn't putting in a shift (at least at home games) Not sure whether he's supposed to be taking the defensive midfield role but I suspect he is, as his tackling is marginally better than Richie Jones' ( mind you so's my 89 year old mother's)
Monkhouse - 7 - MOTM for me. At least looks as if he's putting some effort in and managed to concentrate on his game this week instead of getting involved in disputing the official's decisions like he did against Norwich ( why do players do this? It's not as if it's going to make any difference - other than piss the ref/linesman off even further).
Behan - 3 - Yes, I know he's going to be the next folk hero but does he just turn it on in away games? Bloody woeful today and it was a mercy when he was taken off. I appreciate the free kick against Oldham was an absolute feckin' screamer but find it hard to believe that an effort from the touch line will have a similar result. Let's have a bit of perspective eh Denis?
Brown - 5 - Starved of service and showed a few touches here and there but not one of his better games though I would still have kept him on and taken off Sweeney or Jones and switched McSweeney inside as Browny's always likely to come up with some piece of magic.

Subs.

Boyd - 7 - Made a difference when he came on. Jonny on the Spot for the goal and would like to see him partnered with Browny for the Walsall game.
Austin - 7 - What a difference he made! Good distribution, sound tackling. Must be a shoe in for the left back spot from here on in
Big New Guy (knew I should have checked his name before I logged in!) - 7 - Looked useful with his control and distribution, though won less than his share if aeriel battles than I would have liked. To use a well worn footy cliche - "Nice touch for a big man".

Overall assessment - 5 - Poor game with some extremely frustrating passages of play. I nearly lost it completely when Sam Collins passed the ball perfectly into touch during the second half. Fortunately, the presence of my 8 year old nephew ensured I kept my gob shut. Had I been stood in my usual spot, he would have got the full volley!

I think Hartley had a dislocated ego after that like! But still every cloud.........
Austin looked very good to me, so a positive to come out of the game along with the one where we never got beat like.
