New signing Marcus Richardson will give Windsor & Eton FC the cutting edge they have been missing.

That is the belief of manager Keith Scott who saw his new striker debut for the Royalists in Saturday’s FA Cup win over Bowers & Pitsea.

“I’ll only bring in players that I think will benefit the squad. Marcus gives us something we haven’t got – genuine physical presence upfront,” said Scott of the former Chester and Cambridge United player.

“I’m delighted to have him on board. His fitness levels aren’t there yet, but he’s a good player – an ex-pro – and he’s got experience.”

Richardson is an ex-Reading and Wycombe Wanderers trainee who started out at Harrow Borough.

His CV includes spells at Torquay, Hartlepool, Lincoln, Rochdale, Yeovil, Macclesfield, Weymouth, Crawley, Bury, Farnborough and Henley Town.

“I knew he’d left Farnborough in the summer,” added Scott. “I spoke to him and asked him to training. He came and we had a chat and he signed last Thursday.”

Saturday’s victory sees Windsor progress to the next round where they face Ryman North side Thamesmead, and Scott is keen for a cup run.

“We’ve got a tough game next, but I’d very much like a cup run. But you can’t look past the next game.”

He added: “It’s important to keep churning out results and victories because that builds confidence, but we’ve got a long way to go. It’s just important to take each game as it comes.

“Our focus now is Bridgwater Town on Saturday.”

Windsor have a fully fit squad for Saturday and may welcome back Martin Williams from long-term injury after he played for the reserves on Wednesday.

“It’s a manager’s dream to have a selection headache,” Scott said of having a fully fit squad of 20 players.

“But if you’re going to contest on all fronts then you need a big healthy squad to choose from.”

Unfortunately, I think it's sad how far he's fallen down the pyramid - I thought he was a good player when he was with us.

What game was it at home in 2002/2003 that he dived into the snow?

Torquay, he leaped like a salmon at the back post to head in a cross then dived in the snow. It was the winner in a 3-2 win I think.

That's it. Of course.

The Sky Sports' Presenters' Derby.

It was a great goal.

I thought there might have been a photo of it in From Tears To Cheers but there wasn't.

You really do come out with such twaddle. Did you ever actually see him play or are you relying on media reports??

Well it must have been games where nobody else saw him play

I remember it as well for the report in the Hartlepool mail on the Monday night.

As elvis rightly says it was a toe poke, though Sam Lee (great lass) desribed it as Richardson leapt at the far post to tower in a header or words to that effect. A totally wrong description of the goal.

And one of the only 6 goals he scored for Pools

It was a header, one which he did very well to reach.

No archive on the Pools player to find it but I remember he stooped and headed it in at the far post, it's was probably his best goal for Pools, not that their are many other candidates

I saw the game, he had no idea where it was, it bounced off him into the net and he fell in the snow, not dived for effect. Pure fluke. We were grateful at the time but, c'mon.....Marcus Richardson??

Must have the hardest arse in football. He spends 86 mins a game on it. confised

And one of the more creative Hartlepool goal celebrations I've seen.

he was credited with a goal at Chesterfield which would have went ten yards wide without the defender re-directing his crap shot into the open net. Even pissed I would have got it more on target than he did!!! Cooper released him soon afterwards. Cooper was laughing when talking about him in the post match interview on Pools World
