They have been shite for years now.

How can a band produce Boy and War, but end up like they are now.

Talk about forgetting your roots.

If they'd been playing the same songs for twenty years you'd be saying 'how can they play the same songs for twenty years....'

Because bands evolve, that's why. Dibbs I give you 'Sandinista,' utter gash from start to finish, Salty I give you anything the Fall have done since I Am Kurious Orange. In fact INCLUDING I Am K..... also gash. They've just found a different audience, they don't want you any more!!

To be honest Mr D, I've tried and tried and tried to like the Fall, ask Salty, I stood through a whole set at Leeds, never even went for a waz or a free beer on my afternoon off and the best thing about the whole experience was when their Jack jumped on my foot and broke several bones while he was high on e-numbers.

What he said.

But it would still be nice if OCCASIONALLY they did some new rock stuff of the same quality as "Another Time Another Place" (Boy) or "Two Hearts Beat as One" (War).
Quite honestly there have been very few rock songs by any artist since then that have sent shivers down my spine like those albums did. Certainly nothing by U2. I think it was the switch from Steve Lillywhite to Brian Eno that killed them.

The only U2 album needed.
Back in 1983 I saw a U2 tribute band called Red Rocks at The Whitehouse in
Peterlee

Kev - Dibbs is right, you are wrong about Sandinista.

Which brings us neatly round full circle. I think it's gash, you think it's good. You think U2 are irrelevant these days, millions don't. I have no opinion on them. I bought 'How To Dismantle....' for a quid in China and it's OK but doesn't pull any trees up. I don't regret buying it but it's not what I reach for first. I have a couple of hundred albums like that. OK for the occasional listen.

Music is like good quality perfume, it smells different on everyone.

Except on you where it'll smell of kebab.
