If you would like to pig out in a field on over 25 acts playing 11 hours of live music, then come to the Pig Pen Music Festival and bring the piglets along too!

As the festival season draws to a close, there’s still ample time for one last shimmy in the sunshine as the region’s own independent open-air music festival prepares to open its gates once again.

Your local mini Glastonbury is confirmed for Saturday 5th September 2009 at the usual venue of High Farm in Elwick near Hartlepool.

There'll be free camping, a ‘very’ late bar and for the first time, the festival will feature a second stage – the Acoustic Stage in ‘The Trough’ (the beer tent). The Trough will play host throughout the day to a very wide array of both established and fresh talent in relaxed & ‘undercover’ surroundings. Combined with a great variety of hot & cold food and extra attractions, Pig Pen 2009 looks set to be a beauty!

Tickets are currently on sale priced at £20.00 and are available from numerous outlets across Teesside.

See the Pig Pen website http://www.pigpenfestivals.co.uk for further information.

Please support your local festival!

That's a bit of a drag...it's the same week-end as the Sedgefield Festival. Decisions, decisions....

Don't think so. But the legendary Mr Salt is at Pigpen and the legendary Acoustic Strawbs are at Sedgefield.

dockfest, boro music live, and the stockton fringe festival were all free

All three of which are heavily funded!

We organise this event in our spare time AND, as well as the odd very kind donation, we put our own dosh into it. None of us get paid for doing any of it. We need some help towards the costs and unfortunately, it has to come from ticket sales.

Yeah but Chip thinks everything should be at the price he says it should be 'cos he's skint.

Mind, he's not that skint that he's not always in the bookies or on the poker table. rolfl rolfl

Think I'd prefer to pay the £12 and go and see the (Partial) Strawbs.

Not to mention taking the mother-in-law to Sedgefield on the morning for a free hours lesson on how to play her recent birthday present Ukulele.

Apparently that concert is fully booked, BP. I wish I'd found out about it sooner. The ukelele lessons should still be available tho!

You can get your name on a list for the concert, in case of cancellations, by ringing 01740 621 347.

It's not just bands, there's other stuff as well and there's free camping.

Just a minute...there's a catch here. I detect marketing speak. Is camping one of the 'other stuff' you get for £20, and if so it's not free, is it?

Leaving links directly to some of the artists probably isn't the best idea if you actually want people to turn up
