I thought the first half started very scrappily with both teams not playing particularly very well. We seemed to give the ball away very easily back to them. I thought the Gills' defence looked vulnerable and nervy at times. I kept thinking that if Gills' defensive errors continued, then something could just happen.

Both teams came out for the second half...and then we found out the Gills had subbed their KEEPER at the start of the second half, which was a bit bewildering to us because he hadn't necessarily had a bad game up until then in my opinion.

There will probably be a lot of questions from the Gills fans to Mark Stimpson as to why he did that.

Oli came on for the Gills, back from injury, but he didn't seem to be a big threat.

The ref made some shocking decisions, even some that should have gone your way and went ours instead.

I thought it would end a draw or they'd nick it. I thought Simeon Jackson played well for them.

But the goal - what a goal that was! Came right of the blue! Wonderful! Absolutely sensational!

After that goal, the game seemed to open up more and at times, we tore the Gills defence to shread. We could have easily got a goal which wrapped up the game, but it seems the fairly few chances the Gills had meant that in my opinion the points looked to safe.

All in all, a great afternoon for us. A possibly season launching win, which we must build on now at home.

Finally, we have ended 51 years of hurt at the Priestfield!

sctatchinghead

Did you write this POK? Reading it does not make clear which side you were supporting. One minute you sound like you are supporting Pools and then the next minute, the Gills.

I've just written the same information to a Gills fan on Facebook and I was talking about the Gills as "his team" etc.

The ref made some shocking decisions, even some that should have gone THEIR way and went ours instead.

Consider it noted and corrected.
