What has it produced over the last five years other than a string of Northern League Players (you can't count Browny as he joined from Sunnerland) ... They also release players with potential.. When Cooper was in charge there always seemed to be a lad around the corner with potential to drop into the first team at any time a (Micheal Maidens for example) .. Tubby seems to be a bit afraid to play the young lads.. So what changed and whats gone wrong at The Centre of Excellence?? FFS If I'd been a job for that long and produced no end product I'm sure I wouldn't still be there!!

All the lads Cooper played...

Brackstone
Istead
Craddock
Wilkinson
Appelby
Jones

What they all doing now?

Cooper may well have brought them through but i probs wouldnt take any of them in our team now.

Northern League, Scottish Leagues.. Yh I'm not saying we should be putting young'uns in the team ..I'm just saying our "Successful Youth Scheme" seems to have gone down the pan in recent times.. "Successful" being qualified as producing players that maybe just maybe have a chance of making an appearance for the First XI in some capacity..

When you see the number of young players on the clubs books when they do them half time displays it does make you think that at least one or two of them should 'make it' in league football. I suppose it would be hard to pinpoint where things go wrong in their development. They seem to have a different coach for each age group for example so who would you blame?

Getting promoted to league 1 also means that the kids have to be that bit better to break into he first team. Maybe our coaching is not up to league 1 standard.

Cooper had to play them cos he had no budget for anything else, the current manager has a budget so isn't rushed into playing youngsters too soon.

Rowell, Foley and Robson.. have links to the previous incumbents of the "yoof" hotseat.. All I'm saying is that the current incumbent is hardly pulling up any trees with his discoveries..

Concuring fully , exactly my point... They seem to be just going through the motions.. Its about time they took a look at what they're getting for their money (which appears to be the root sum of fuck all at the moment)... I suggest they start by getting some decent coaches in who some idea what they are doing, have some experience and track record of actually producing something in the game..

so your blaming Turner for what exactly? the fact that there aren't enough decent quality young kids to go around?

We haven't exactly been a hotbed for young talent, the odd one or two coming through every few years but thats the way its alway been, and always probably will

we cant complain, its not as if any other club in the country is producing world beaters either, its because of all these foreigners, look at arsenal, last weekend, not 1 english player was in their whole team

We're in an area where a young kid could pick 3 big teams to go to, if he's any good then they'd snap him up, look at hartley for example.

We just can't compete.

Although if the club were to have a good record of producing young players who went on to have careers in league football then parents may be more willing to let them join Pools as opposed to the "big 3".

Good point, agreed.

Like someone said cooper did blood a lot but i think it was more out of circumstance then actually rating them.

I don't know, there were times when he played the likes of Wilkinson, Istead and Robson when there were more senior players available of equal ability.

I remember a game at oldham when he started foley upfront, craddock at the back and a few others.

A few days later we signed some players, total statement from cooper that and it worked.

I loved that guy, he was like my dad.

Brown came from Sunderland? I'm sure we plucked him straight out of Crammy Juniors?

Yeah, I thought Crammy Juniors too.
Anyway, his dad's my village milkman, and his sister is sexy as fuck...

That could be true, but I think you know I meant James Browns dad is the milkman, and James Browns sister is sexy as fuck - though it has to be said, in a pornstar way rather than a classy way...
