Apologies if this has already been reported but I have had a phone call informing me that the ground sale is a done deal. It involves the ground as it stands and the adjacent strip of land to the club car park.
Don't know any further detail as yet. Please don't shoot the messenger :-o

We don't need to make the ground any bigger when we only get 3100.

the police and the club banned the lads who were deemed to be trouble causers - a lot of them on wan-ky civil action cases - how can the police take someone to court in a civil action by the way? - anyhow they aren't there so the atmosphere isn't there.
I don't care what anyone says -
lads at football = atmosphere
no lads at football = no atmosphere

Agree with that Parmo, what football may have gained in some ways it has lost in others

Agree 100%

I understand this will attract the lily livered "hooliganism is a cancer on football" brigade but to be fair I don't give a shit. A confrontational atmospehere is what makes a football game.

More away fans will make for a better atmosphere but when we play teams that will bring a large following the away team will feel like they are playing at home. Bristol Rovers fans made more noise than the home fans on tuesday night the Town End is a sorry place to stand most of the games. There is around 20 to 30 of us that actually sing.

The mayor has nothing to do with the process.

And if pools wanted to buy it so much then why havent they by now?

Over the last couple of years threads about the purchase of the ground from the council have been posted at fairly regular intervals. Most comment seems to be in favour of the club owning the ground and accuse the council of dragging it's feet.

There'll be one or two on here that remember when the council acquired the ground cos there was a risk that it would've been sold for development and Hartlepool United would have ceased to exist. The council considered that having a league club kept the town in the public eye and decided that the best way of securing the clubs future was for the council to own the ground.

It's interesting now that most committed supporters on here now believe that the best interests of the club would be represented by it owning the ground. What would happen though if IOR disappeared and a more unscrupulous, assett stripping owner took the club over. They do exist y'know.
