He's buying a second hand Focus. What he didn't say is that he first house was in Calcutta Grove and he had paid 15 years rent so got the full discount. Purchase price was about £4'000.

Cool Livvy-mobile! :coool:

Talk of Calcutta Grove did get me musing about the People's Republic of Little India.
I know there was some kind of alphabetical order heading up Seaton Lane. I seem to recall it went thus:

ADEN GROVE
BOMBAY GROVE
CALCUTTA GROVE
DURBAN GROVE (geography went a bit haywire at this point)
Can't recall the letter E
FREEMANTLE GROVE
GARSTON GROVE
Can't recall H either, but this just about gets you to Jutland Road.

All in all, I remember it as a particularly low-quality area you had to pass through to get to Seaton. It's residents tended to be rag and bone men, and sea-coalers with their manky trucks. Urban legend has it that some R n B types let their horses live in their houses as pets, and their heads could oft be seen sticking out of upstairs windows!

Of course, these days, such types would be moved to Darlington.

Spot-on with those two non-hindu locations.
Cheers John!
Mind, some parts of Edinburgh can these days easily be confused with the sub-continent...
