but, I must say not totally condemned.

FC Schalke's chant "Blau and weisse, wie ich lieb' dich" came under criticism from the Islamic community recently for mentioning the prophet Mohammed in its third verse.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/germany/5979254/Muslims-angry-over-German-football-songs-reference-to-Prophet-Mohammed.html

The third verse contains the line:

Mohammed war ein Prophet,
der vom Fussballspielen nichts versteht/
Doch aus all der schoenen Farbenpracht
hat er sich das Blau und Weisse ausgedacht.

Using my best German, it roughly translates as:

(Muhammad was a prophet
who understood nothing about football/
But of all the lovely colours
he chose [Schalke's] blue and white.)

What do you mean, 'using your best German'? That's the translation given in the article.

Anyway, back to the point. I don't see why anyone should care if people have been made angry, unless it can be shown that they're justified in being angry.

I know that's the translation from the article.

But using my best German, what was said in the translation was probably what I would have said as well.  :coool:

I have been to the Veltins arena 8 times now, as I am working in a place called Mulheim an der Ruhr.

What a magnificent stadium it is, it hold approx. 70,000. The whole organisation of the football makes us in the Uk look amateurish. Also the atmosphere is unbelieveable, helped by a bloke on scaffold at the front of the stand in this clip leading the crowd with a hand help microphone, I kid you not.

I have stood in the Victoria stand on the right and thoroughly enjoyed the games I have viewed even though I have no feeling towards any football team except Hartlepool and the most I have paid is 37 Euro, about 30 quidish.

Sausages,Beers,Mullets and Shaking Stevens Car Posters everywhere!

I watched a Bundesliga match live on Setanta and was amazed when I saw football supporters drinking beer on the TERRACES and in some grounds, they still have TERRACES in some grounds.

No health and safety laws like that in Germany.

When I said that I meant that Germany's main national has football grounds still with terraces.

In this country, becuase of events, every ground is an all-seater stadium.

So apart from the BBc website you dont get news from anywhere else. People including some from as high as those in government ,in this country have been using the German way of terracing to try and re introduce it to the higher levels of English football. Though of course some have argued against it, you really do need to get out more , me old mate.
