Is it just me or does anyone else think Turner had no back up plan if these two signings didnt happen, which they have not! We missed out on them 2 and now it all seems a bit quiet on the home front. As for these trialists, i know its usually the agents that sort the trials out for the players and i know we dont have to sign them but im getting increasingly worried that they might sign some sort of deal. Im sorry but a bury reject, a northampton reject, a gateshead reject and some unheard of young lad from hull certainly dont fill me full of confidence!. Our defence is also looking worse than last season at the moment, im a bit worried for the start of the season now! Week to sort it out Chris.

both haslam and larkin would be squad players behind austin and behan therefore giving depth to a shallow squad.

lamplough is for the future .the concerrns are finding a first choice experienced left back a rare breed.

and we also need a backup centre back incase hartley or liddle get clogged.

Because someone was released by a club due to them having a player that is on a longer contract or of a higher standard ( in their opinion) does not stop them being able to do a basic job at another club.

FACT football is a business and ptogress requires a balance between cartwheel signings and basic foundations.
Take the rose coloured classes off and be realistic. banghead

spot on.

We desperately need a left back, and I will be staggered, and am staggered, that it has nt, or wont be sorted.

But other than that, I am excited by our squad.

CT could do nothing about Clark and collins getting injured.

If they had stayed fit, we would have Clark, Collins Hartley and Liddle vying for two places.

Larkin would be an excellent signing as fourth striker.

We have competition upfront now, which we didnt have last season, until the loanees came in.

We are spolit for choice in midfield, though I accept, we dont have the player in the Tinkler mould, which we could do with.

We have a keeper, we didnt last season. Though some of you seem determined to see Fliders fail, and will obviously take great pleasure if he does.

We have a right back, and now maybe cover.

We have 7 new signings, and a fir James Brown, is like an 8th.

That means its possible only 3 of last seasons team will get a game.

And some on here still arent happy.

Well you are happy, as you see us failing. Which is what some of you want anyway.

Well said Mr Dibble.

And by the way, didn't we get Chris Westwood on a free from a non-league team?

And I'm sure there'll be other similar examples.

In all seriousness you can't blame Turner for not having back up plans for every signing he tries to make...

I mean how far do you go, do you back up your back ups, then back up your backed up back ups, then even back up the players you backed up to back up the original back ups?

It could go on for ages....

Of course not

I think Yubep was just pointing out that while westy come from a non-league club, so did the hologram implying that its a risky business getting players from that level!

Nobody is saying that there isnt dross in the higher leagues! All i suspect Yubep was saying is that it is probably more of a gamble employing players from non-league clubs. Some of them will be able to make the step up, some wont.

I agree with what Mr Dibble said, with special emphasis on a left back. As second best we could get a centre back in and move Hartley to LB, but I would prefer a specialist LB.
Can't wait for Saturday and will be going to the Dongies game.
Bring it on.
