same feeling but i dont think we are strong enough too challenge the
top two places in the league, i dont feel we have enough strength
in the squad to come second or top.

Unless the defence is tightened up, I'm afraid we may be in for a repeat of last season
We are still missing a LB , and we still have little cover

The personnel have changed but we still seem to be leaking goals.
Yes, I know it's early days and we've only had two friendlies, against what might be reasonable opposition
but there's got be a big and rapid improvement, in the next three weeks.

I think you might be right LeicesterPoolie - I'm not convinced our defence will be much better. I hope I'm wrong but our centre-backs still look too slow and flat-footed - for that reason I can only foresee a similar position to last season...

The defence will take time to gel. Nelson may have been rubbish at times but he will still be missed.

Joel will obviously be missed too. The new goalkeeper sounds dodgy. We still have no left back and little cover for the centre half positions.

I therefore cant see why we will suddenly go from being a poor side to a good one. stpid stpid stpid

Midtable would be a success.

obviously we still need a left back, Turner himself said its top of his priorities when he gets back from Holland, so we should expect to see something happen next week.

i'm expecting a slow start to the season, simply because of all the new players taking time to gel, so i expect to see us in or around the bottom 4 come November, after that i think we will steadily rise and end up around 12-14th.

I dont believe we were a poor set of individual players last season even though we were a poor team.If Turner has the attitude & vibe around the place right I think we can be play off contenders.

I'm excited and predict a top 10 finish. If healey signs and stays fit he is the missing quality we have missed in midfield the last couple of seasons. With Boyd, Brown and Behan we should score plenty of goals.
Obviously the defence last season was a concern but with virtually a new back 4 it cant be any worse than last season.

I think we have shown that we can be a good enough side to get into the play-offs on numerous occasions and reckon with Boyd and Brown we can at least sneak in on the last day of the season.

What the feck does that mean??????

Let me try and get my head around that! So because we have been good enough to get into the play-offs in the past we can do it again this season despite having a competely different team?? Mmm. rolfl rolfl rolfl

Plus this is a message board, I can't see anyone. How fooked up would your head be if you logged in and instead of a list of threads what awaited you was an Irish bloke sat there staring at you.

There are six teams better than us even without a ball being kicked. Southampton, Norwich, Charlton, Leeds, Millwall and Huddersfield.

That's not defeatist, 'cos anyone will tell you, all my ducks are swans.

It's just a FACT. confised

So don't talk bollocks.

Why are those 6 teams better than us before a ball is kicked. Southampton, Norwich and Charlton are in our division because they weren't good enough for the championship last season. We also have 10 points start on Southampton. Leeds and Millwall weren't good enough to go up either automatically or via the play off's. Huddersfield spending money but that doesn't guarantee success.

Football is played on grass not paper, lets wait till we see a ball kicked, there's nothing to say any of those teams will not struggle.

Millwall may just have over achieved last season, they did finish nearer the relegation places than promotion the season before.

We all start level(apart from Southampton) so lets go from there.

Like I said Mr Bob, I've got blue and white blood, same as you, but I seriously don't think we'll finish above any of those teams.

For a start we can't win away from home and we chuck to many stupid points away at the Vic.

That isn't going to change just because we want it to.

Of course nobody can say how it will pan out, but to me, the division looks much stronger than it did last year. By the same token, so does our squad. Clench the ol' cheeks, and let's see how we go. :uhoh:

Nothing to do with being miserable. Its about being realistic. Those thinking were suddenly getting into the play offs in the hardest ever League 1 needs their heads looking at.

Every side in that division is beatable.

We had the likes of Forest, Leeds and Sheff Wed in this divisiion in 2004/05 but we still got to Cardiff.

It doesn't matter what teams I mention really, because in my opinion the point that I am trying to make is that we've shown that we can more than match ourselves against established teams in the past, so we can carry that forward to the coming season.

Teams in the Prem are beatable but we wouldnt finish top 6.

I dont understand how people say we more than match the bigger sides and "we always raise our game against the bigger sides" ok maybe we do, but we still very very rarely beat them. Yeah we play well but never get the 3 points.

I'm waiting for the confirmation of these 2 Irish lads, and a new left back, before I decide.
