Post subject: Match Report from Holland
PostPosted: Tue Jul 14, 2009 7:24 pm
My first post so don't be too harsh on me. Thought i'd do a quick report on last nights match if anyone is interested.

The photos on the website doesn't really tell a true story about the attendance, i would say there was about 300/400 fans there with about 40 pools fans. The stand was pretty full and people were stood all around the pitch. Everyone seemed to enjoy the match and the atmosphere, 3 blonde dutch lasses made a pretty good profit selling orange Holland Polo shirts with the Pools badge on the front, although i think most were just buying the shirts as an excuse to have a good perve at the girls. 2 blokes had quality blue and white striped clogs on which i wanted a pair of.

The match was similar to last season really, losing 3 soft goals and then having to make a comeback. They were the better side but are obviously ahead of us in terms of match fitness.

It's only their first games so don't want to be critical (yet.lol) but Flinders and Hartley didn't really impress with flinders flapping at a corner and getting no where near the 3 goals. but like i say its their first games and I'm confident they will be much better than what we had last season. I had no idea who the left back was, he was very short though so cud be vulnerable to the LDB  He was solid enough though, and had an excellent long throw. Boydy had some clever touches as usual and i can't wait to see him and browny upfront, if they can click we could be in for an exciting season. Jonny Rowell looked quality when he came on in centre mid, hope we'll see more of him this season. Austin looks solid and adds a bit of bite and aggression although was caught out of position a few times early on. Mcsweeney didn't do much really.

Anyway, it was our first friendly so plenty of time to sort everything out. Just wanted to give a quick report.

Roll on the new season!!!

ps, its shocking that first time posters on here are all terrified of getting a shitty response from the regulars and feel the need to ask for fair treatment before they post!

It's true. They should be made welcome on the Bunker comfy chair and given a free tug.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but the left-back who played against Volendam was Thomas Ulvestad Vacas, a triallist from Asane. I was impressed with Joe Skarz, so I was wondering whether Lee Clark didn't want to loan him out again ?
