A defensive defender would be a start...

Do we actually have a defensive midfielder as such. I would say no if Boland not coming back

I'm struggling to think of any apart from Boland who the club said they'd wait on fitness wise before deciding what to do. sctatchinghead

I'm still waiting for Tree to tell us who all these defensive midfielders are that we have.

Surely Liddle is a defensive midfielder?

He barely played a forward pass last season.

Infact I expect Liddle to end up as a defender.

And you are all forgeting Baby Ritchie. Who will make the role his own, in time.

I said that all the way through last season, richie has the potential to be a very good holding midfielder for us, as now he is a yard short of pace, but his passing and reading of the game is still good.

Boland.
Liddle.
Clark (Not a midfielder but Turner prefers him here)
Humps (wont be left back, wont take Monks place so can only presume that will be defensive midfield)

Plus people will disagree but to me Jones is better defensivly than attacking.

Thats 5 plus maybe this new guy fighting for one spot?

I think that will have answered Tax Paying Poolie's question satisfactorily

None of them are out and out defensive midfielders though are they apart from Boland who is a crock. I'm more than happy to see a defensive midfielder sign as it's an area where we're seriously lacking in class. As for Humphreys being a defensive midfielder....WTF?

Surely to god if CT wants a defensive midfielder then he cant rate Boland or at least has major concerns re his fitness therefore we should have got rid thus freeing up wages for a defensive midfielder

I have told you. Baby Ritchie is the best of the bunch.

Not Ritchie Humphreys, as was misconstrued above. sctatchinghead

For me we've done the right thing with him. We're monitoring his fitness and see how he reacts once he's fully fit. No-one else is going to come in and sign him so we've got nothing to lose.

What about Power, he is one hell of a tackler and I have heard he is as fit as a butchers dog.

Suprised ADG didn't mention him

You could be right about Jones. I think the problem with Jones at the moment is that he could be one of a number of positions. He is hard to catagorise.

Its possible that because of that Jones may be one to miss out at the start of the season.
