Have we had any this summer yet?

I think boydy is a good signing and may prompt a small forward roll.

Austin is also a good signing and could prompt many into a star jump...

But still, a carthweel is a long way off.

We can only dream.

i dont think we need any, i think people will be content for decent league 1 standard players, playing in their preferred positions.

I think Turner certainly wanted one...

We still need to sign

A Left back
A left winger (to replace Robson as stated by Turner)
A big ish striker (again stated by Turner).

out of those 3 it would only be a striker or left winger that would be classed as a 'cartwheel' signing, somehow i can't see any of them being cartwheel.

i'm agreeing with you completely. IF we could get a full season out of him, we will finish comfortably mid table, if we sign him up for another year and he gets injured soon into the season then we will struggle.

I personally would rather have a younger version in the team and let him find another sick bed to lay in

Boland has been here 3 years now and played in less than half the games we have played. When he has played he rarely lasts the full match. He'll be 34 when the season starts and he's only going to be playing in less games from now on. Plus he is yet to convince me at League 1 level anyway so I definitely think it's time to move on.

Pretty much what I was about to say. I think we've got a younger version of Boland at the club but we'll have to see how that pans out...

Yet to convince you at League 1 level? He was running this team on his own at the start of last season and looked a class above. Yeah it was only 6 or 7 games or whatever but he is a class act when fit but that is the problem.

That is the problem. I thought the season before last he was carried somewhat, but what do I know? Obviously you know best.

Who do you think the younger version of Boland is then Kolley? The player who seems incredibly talented to me (and who actually excites me with his range of passing) is of course Rowell but I can't understand how few minutes he got last season despite the relegation battle at the end.

So who WAS our last cartwheel signing? For me personally it was probably Gabbiadini

Tree in spouting shit shock horror. Boland played 3 times before injury last season, he was indeed excellent against Colchester and did OK in the other two but to say he was pulling the strings singlehandedly is bollox. Look at the season before to get a closer idea of what we can expect from him. Add another 18 months to his legs as well as another serious injury and that should tell you why we need to move on.

To be fair I was unsure of how many games he played hence me saying "or whatever". He had a good pre season last year and was probabaly at his fittest since he arrived at the club when that season started. I still reckon at 34 he has a lot to give if he can get games under his belt. To write someoen off because he is 34 is ridiculous.

You should consider taking your own advice and read what I wrote, not what you think I wrote. I'm not writing him off because he is 34; I'm writing him off because his career statistics show you'll be lucky to get 20 games from him at the best of times nevermind at the age of 34 having had a year out after another serious injury. I hope he is better than he was two seasons ago when he underachieved at this level but the factors are against him. You seem to think he is a good enough at this level based on the 2 and a half games worth of games he featured in last season and the odd daft pre season game but I think I'll look at the bigger picture instead.

I agree, ...and as for the number of appearances, don't forget it was under Wilson who when it came to team selection didn't know if he wanted a shite, shave or a shampoo.

Wilson always played Boland when fit so I don't think you can suggest Wilson never game him his chance. Wilson also wasn't his manager for the 15 seasons prior to that when he continually averaged around 20 games a season. He was excellent in his first season, poor in his second at League One and then played well in the 2 and a half worth of games he played in last season. I hope Boland comes back fitter and stronger as he has occasionally show signs of excellence on his day at League One and good players of his type are imperative to having a strong midfield. However, I think factors are working against him rather than with him so I don't hold out much hope.

We'll just have to see... (I'm getting sick of saying this and boring myself) ... but that's all we can do realistically.

I would love to see Alan Power break through this season.

He is a quality player, but appears to have other issues.

If he can get the off field stuff right, he will be a star.

FACT.

What's your problem with Power? You're always having a dig. I'd expect it from Tree because he's the biggest dick on the board but I'd expect better from you. The lad plays for Hartlepool United at the end of the day, our team, and he deserves the right to be given a chance. As ADG said, the off-field stuff needed to improve and Power has realised that himself. He was getting a reputation that did him no favours but he's been out nearly every day beach running and training with Evan Horwood for the past month. He knows this is his last year and that's it's make or break and he's knuckled down accordingly. Yeah, I am a mate and I want to see him succeed, but having watched him play I do think he has what it takes to be the new Boland.

Woh! I quite liked what little iv seen of Power I just find it amusing that as soon as anyone mentions he is overweight/his lifestyle you come on as quick as a flash and deny it. Your kinda like the Superman of the board!!

I dont believe iv ever had a dig at Powers ability??

Agree with the essence of what you're saying and I hope Power does the business. He's got more chance of getting people on his side if he starts to show he can offer something. So far he has taken (at a guess) around about 50 grands worth of the clubs money and given nothing back, it's hardly surprising therefore people are going to criticise and look for excuses to knock him and he hasn't exactly helped himself with his lifestyle choices.

I kNOW he is a good player. Infact he is better than a good player.

And I am quite excited by Kollys comments about him, and his change of lifestyle.

I can see him being a star this season.

Mind you I said this last season as well.

If he cuts out the friday nights over the town then i'm sure instantly he'll be in a better position to do well next season.
