I'm a bit bemused. 66 members in the last 3 days and only 7 have said a word. Why bother?

More than likely people who like to read the board but don't have anything much to contribute.
They have to register to view the board now, don't they?

Indeed. I simply fail to understand why anyone would join a discussion group then not discuss anything.

It's not really a problem is it? Perhaps they want to wait for the season to start? As long as they're not causing problems I don't mind people reading my words of wisdom.

Best way to get them to post if by having people talking utter shite and making statements/comments they totally disagree with.

If we start badly il get a few posting :)

Might have something to do with you can get more info here on whats happening at pools than reading the official site?

For what its worth (which isn't much I know) making it a log-in only site is a bad move if you want the site to keep on growing with pools and away fans who cant be arsed to register on a message board they found through a search engine and know nothing about.

I dunno, maybe you want it this way? confised

You're right of course....These newbies need to get their fingers out

My excuse for not posting is that i'm in training... to build up my thick skin to protect from the humourous volley of abuse which is normally expected. I think I'll hire PoK as my personal trainer, his hide must be as thick as fook by now!

I await my first volley! Bring it on!!!

Therein lies the problem. The board is already big. We (notice I speak on behalf of the other admins without their permission) don't particularly want the board to get any bigger since it would risk losing its community character.
As for supporters (home or away) who want to read the site but can't be arsed to register, then hard luck. It's not as though we're losing their contributions. And if they want to post something they always had to register anyway.

Peoples perceptions of the Bunker have always fascinated me.

Many people hate it, though they read it.

Others read it but wont register or post as the dont feel they belong to the clique.

There has never been a clique though. Most of us only ever met through this board, or one of its predecessors.

We werent all mates before the board started, and we arent mates now. We all stand or sit in different parts of the ground, come from all different backgrounds, and have different opinions.

I met Mr I, Muttley and others for the first time, at the Bournemouth away game in the Play off final season. Just 4 years ago.

My only judgement on anyone on the board is whether or not I could sit and have a pint with them. I havent come across one person yet that I wouldnt.

It was always meant to be irrerrevent, tongue in cheek, and everything every other board never was........and I preferred it when we were the polar opposite to the official site.

It did get to the stage were too many people were taking things way to seriously.................and that has made the bunker suffer.

I think I know the type of humour, and the types of comments the regulars make, but reading other boards, makes me think, others just dont get it.

There are still 769 members that have not bought me a pint yet.

this board can be daunting for a new person. I remember when i first joined having heard of people being banned for not being in the clique etc i thought i will be shot off in a matter of days because i tend to argue a lot. I feel like i have my feet under the table so to speak even though i still havent bought adg that pint i promised him at the start of last season. Also owe chip one for my oldham will get promoted bet...

People bother because on here you hear more about transfer speculation players contracts etc.

although people dont post when they come on because. People dont want to talk about

Andy Murray scottish nob head that English people talk about and watch because there is no English player that is anywhere near him. Who gives a shit.

Sun dried tomatoes. Who gives a shit

Michael Jackson. Who gives a shit.

and when new people like myself do post they probably get some nob head like yourself disagreeing with them and been a bounder with them for having an opinion.

No im not saying agree with new people. My main point was that people might not want to write about the list of things i mentioned that could be just me but it might have something to do with why not many of the visited people have posted anything.

very possibly......if thats the case and some of the newbies dont like talking bout the stuff posted then start your own topics and join in the fun. I personally dont like the music threads on here simply because all these old fogies like rubbish folk music and the like.

Look, the Bunker started up with maybe a dozen of us - the clique if you like - who recognised themselves as generating a certain mutual ambience on the ancestor boards but found there was a bit too much background noise. So on the notable initiative of Mr I, we established the Bunker in an attempt to distil that ambience.
It's an ambience we like and we don't really want it to change. Newcomers are welcome to embrace it, add to it, but not dilute it. The Bunker is not a public service: if people don't like it, they have our full blessing to frequent a different board, of which I believe there are several.
