I have just had a second occurence of phantom email sending, looks like a chinese bug, usually identified by mailer demom error messages to your inbox and is easily got rid off by adaware.

I have a suspicion that another independent pools board may be the source. I know it serves me right for straying from the oracle but has anyone else experienced it?

It's not from there mate, it's hosted by proboards and they're very secure. I run the site and the only bit that isn't proboards is a hostname and that's a simple redirect. I had a check on their support forums just incase and there's been no mention of a virus infecting any of their sites.

Not sure where your virus has came from but I am on all of the pools sites at work all day (whilst working hard of course  ) and I've never had any alert come up from the antivirus, and ours is fairly robust being an IT company dealing with government systems.

There's a program called Hijack This which monitors all running processes and helps you to find where virus scripts are running from. Also a google of the virus name usually reveals the source and how it is distributed.

Generally viruses from webpages only come from privately hosted sites or pages as the bigger companies have very good systems that prevent any kind of issues.

Thanks for your input Yloop, I can understand where you are coming from but I'll stay away from ITB and the other possibility Rivals for the time being and see if it reappears.

OK, fair enough.

Chances are there's something on your PC already causing it mind. Run Malwarebytes if you haven't already to clear your system.

Bloody hell that's the longest post you've ever written - and by a long, long, way!
