A few weeks ago I got a letter off NTL/VirginMedia saying I was eligible for a FREE Broadband Upgrade!!!! :coool:

So I went onto the site to sort it out....like I did last time....but then it gives me this Number to ring....they never last time....they done it automatically!!!! :evil:

So do you reckon I'll be rining a number that is expensive as fuck????

BTW....Since I went on the site and registered for the FREE Upgrade but never phoned up....yet....my Connection has slowed right down!!!! banghead

You just phone up and they add you for the upgrade,cos you ring up you get it faster.

I reckon i'm on it, not sure, I have that £30 squid a month dealio thing where i get the XL TV package, phone and broadband, even got v plus, and even another tele box upstairs.

Just rang them up they said that its not been done in Teeside yet and all the people currently on the 10Mb are paying £2 extra for the service

I can have it but will have to pay the £2 forever..so much for the "free" upgrade...

So what do I do

I've already told them about youse lot and thats the reason they gave me...

I more or less told them they where liars but she wouldn't have it..so do you think its worth me ring up and telling them to upgrade me now on the free scheme pull their service in a month??

We asked about this a couple of weeks ago, were told we would be notified by e:mail when it was upgraded. Just done speedtest now, getting 2.27.

MB are good as when it use to be dial up it was measured in KB, 1MB = 1000KB. Its mainly downloads you will notice when you have 10MB. Anything over 2MB is good, but the difference between 5 & 10 MB you wouldnt notice for just browsing the internet.

On a side notice its funny to see which countries have the fastest internet, japan for example has 80MB speeds. The us and uk are between by countries like finland and luxemburg ffs!!!

just seen this post, muttley i did the same phoned up and the mush said that he had upgraded me to 10 instead of 2 all i needed to do was turn off the laptop and turn it back on. this was on friday, just done the speed checker thing and my speed is 2208

am i getting ripped off?

It all depends on how far you are from the telephone exchange. Getting 10MB on a 10 MB service is completely unachievable unless your modem is plugged directly into the exchange itself, so your 2.2MB speed might be about right if your house is situated quite far from the exchange.

ntl in the town is but some poor people have to use phone lines and adsl.. and this is what cause the degredation
