I went to me mates wedding do at the Schooner last night, and whilst a great time was had by all, the DJ was a doyle.

By about 10pm the rarf turned the volume up to full crank. This meant you had to go out the back to have a conversation with anyone.

Until this point there was lots of good patter flowing, but it stopped because of the noise.

Why do all mobile disco djs have to do this? I don't want to sound like a grumpy old man, but it just ruined the atmosphere.

This is one of my main bugbears with these clowns, they actually think they're the most important people in the room. You go to a do, the conversations flowing and Mr Middle of the Road decides to f**k the night up for everyone by playing the same banal old faithfuls while he gives us his 'philosophy' on all things in that srangled nasal drone that all DJ's adapt when they get behind a microphone.
The comocal thing is, when it happens, no one gets up to 'dance' apart from two lasses and a pensioner, it's rather sad really.

The 'DJ voice' always amuses me.

No matter what part of the country you are in these rarfs always try to speak the same, fast and inaudible. It's the same with local radio DJ's who to try to and talk like a DJ should. Don't they realise that the successful people in these fields actually the ones who are natural and have some individuality?

I'm with Mr Dead on this one, I was DJ-ing for 20-odd years and I'm quite sad to be seen as a waste of space. I came out of retirement to do a wedding for some people who used to come to my club night and the one comment I remember most was simply 'You made us dance.....'

That was enough. confised

I've no idea, you couldn't make out what he looked like either as the lights round the booth burned your retinas if you looked in that direction.

Wow, I do Mobile discos in and around Hartlepool using Various equipment (see http://www.justhartlepool.com) which sounds great to my ears. I always set the gear up and do sound checks, when I do a disco I always tell the customer what I intend to do throughout the night. ie before the buffet a mucky mixture of music keeping it low and also asking if anyone wants a song playing come up and ask or text me a request using the number on the front of my banner, then after the buffet and speaches up a notch and try to get people on the dance floor when DJing you can't always get it right. But if it is too loud, he's playing the wrong tunes, talking too much etc. go and have a talk with the DJ he wont bite

why would anyone want to be a evening do DJ, surely its like working in your local bar watching people you know getting pissed and enjoying themselves while your doing your job.
