I actually think borer might struggle in the championship. I can't see any of their half-decent players wanting to stay with a championship side who intrinsically are no bigger than the likes(tm) of Blackpool or Plymouth.

With all these exciting signings we haven't yet made, we might even miss them on our way up as they come down.

I'm not arsed about the mackems, mags or hull as long as boro return to their rightful home.

Oh and thanks Montpoolier for teaching me a new word today, I had to google the word intrinsically.

I don't think newcastles fans will be as loyal as people think in the championship either.

Yeah, tigro, but why cloud the issue with logic?!

relegation will piss off that subspecies of life - the hartlepool mag. Fine by me.

I might, sort of, agree with that, though I find it hard to get het up about it. People do all sorts of weird things.
However, relegation would also considerably piss off some good friends of mine who support Newcastle because it's their local team. Now I have a choice, I suppose....do I sympathise with them, who're always prepared to listen to my views however much they disagree, or do I sympathise with the fellow supporters of my own team, who fall over themselves to post abuse every time anyone dares to think differently?

You can get very sick of tribalism.

Honestly, I'm struggling to find any logic in that at all. Because you live near someone you have to have a preference for them? What on earth for?

So Tigro, I expect you want Scotland to win then? And Darlow?

You must do.

But your post made no sense whatsoever.

I take Mr MJ's point, but as I understand Mr Tigro, the main point of his post isn't that he wants local teams to win, but that he doesn't understand why people automatically want other local teams to lose.

You only had to walk past the Gillan Aarms pub 5 minutes before sundays kick off to understand why we wanted the foookin godawful skunks to get neat.

I am still laughing now. And belive me, I am laughing AT them whilst I sit here at work. :coool:

Well, perhaps the Gillan Arms didn't hold a good cross section.
As I said, I know a good few Newcastle supporters who're just supporting their local team, not defining themselves as anyone's enemies or dissing anyone else.
