we had this much activity so soon after a season finished? We are usually banghead 's whilst the players and manager supposedly go off on holiday.

This summer appears very different, a concerted effort appears to be being made to sort out a weak squad and get the fans back on board. The cynical will say it's an attempt to sell season tickets, I have no problem with that myself like! We need to find the missing 1000 fans, get our average attendance back up and raise our game for next season. It's going to be a very hard season, their are some huge clubs in our division next campaign, we need to raise our game markedly to compete with them. Norwich had sold 20,000 season tickets before they were even relegated!

There's one thing for certain, I've said this to a number of people, IOR trust Chris Turner, he consistently has no problem getting them to release cash for new players. Whether once he's got them in he can get them to perform to a midtable or higher standard, well the jury is out on that one.

So far so good for me though, looking forward to next season already.

I'm with you on this one, the last time I got excited by preseason signings was the season we signed Procter, Llewellyn et al.

What a useless bunch they turned out to be, however this season is different FACT.

Yep, we all got duped by "exciting" signings in 2005.
The thing is, Scotty didn't get rid of anyone who was useless (in as far as anyone in an almost-league-1-play-off-final-winning team can be considered useless).

The difference is Scotty ruined the backbone of the team, whereas last years team had no backbone (in more ways than one)

I feel a lot more optimistic about our prospects now we seem to be getting a good solid playing squad together

even a negative bounder such as me is a bit more encouraged for next season. Im no fan of CT but if he is given the funds to bring in some decent players then so be it. Hopefully the players will be so good that CT's lack of management skills will not result in a bad season. Im still a bit disappointed that we did not release a few more players like.

Apart from Mackay, I thought we'd released just about all the "unpopular" players we could. sctatchinghead

i'm still pretty sure that Collins will be on his way, the whole transfer system will kick start properly once the Premiership has finished at the weekend.

I still have a feeling MacKay will become a prolific Goal Scorer in the Denis Law/Jimmy Greaves type of mode!!!!  :coool:

If he gets a run in the Team from the off....he'll be The Business!!!! :coool: :coool:
