Just been reading a view reviews of your book "Kicked Out" and it sounds a good read and has some rave reviews

How long did it take you to write it ?

I was talking to a bloke yesterday who i built a house for at the golf course and he has written a book called "The Meadow" with a woman from Canada over the internet who he didn't know or even seen and the book is out next month and has already been raved about in America and has been read by some well known celebs like Johnny Depp and a Mr Speilberg!

So you never no what might happen with yours, good luck to you mate, if it does get turned into a fillum i'm sure there would be few on here to be good extras

Thanks mister
It has had some great reviews, and great local press, but to take it to the next level it probably needs reviews in the national sunday papers and there's none forthcoming yet. Its been Borders Book of the Month and myself and Rick (a rapper who does live performances with me) have got something coming up in Border Books in London as well as a half hour slot on resonance fm, a London based arts and culture radio station.

It took me two and a half years to write, ten months to get accecpted and then it takes a year from acceptance to publication - so its a long slog.

I'm over thirty thousand words into my second novel - which hopefully will be a Richard and Judy bestseller.

That feller has done well - good luck to him. And yeah, films is where the money's at. I'm skint, very skint, but would love to make something back for all that time, effort and emotion.

Do you want to be the drug dealer, the hostel staff member, the radgee with a knife or the dad who's a twat?

Bloody hell, I'm almost rich and famous.
I get 15 percent of each copy sold - which amounts to summat like £1.20 (I think) at £7.99.
It puts all those years working damn hard doing overnights and with one young child and another born, into perspective.
Amazon is doing them cheap. I dont know how it works with that. I presume they buy them off the publisher services and sell them for whatever they want.
According to Elvis Borders at Teesside Park has enough copies left. And I may well contact them, thanks mister.
To be truthful I really dont mind where people buy them from. I would just be delighted that people got one, and would hope they would buy a new copy from Borders or Amazon itself rather than the other companies on Amazon that state they have second hand already - they cant have.
Plus of course, recommending to others or buying as a gift if you like it.
Thanks folks, I'm touched (in the head)

Well, i finished mine yesterday and would have finished it earlier if it wasnt for watching once upon a time in america and having a busy weekend away - i couldnt put it down - i do this with most books as i have to finish them after spending three years trying to read the laws of my fathers - but with this one it wasnt because of any strange midlife crisis reasons but mainly because it was a good read, easy to follow.

I dont think many of the older generation on here will get it, the snow white brigade neither, but anyone under the age of 25, and anyone who has lived a little and anyone who wants to read something funny, observant, at times sad and with some strong characters and a good gathering of minor role players, will also be unable to put it down.

considering they played such a part in the book for some reason i had a barrier letting me visualise the bedrooms but other than that the scenes and settings were easy to pick up, especially wi having a knowledge of newcastle. theres a couple of things i have unanswered but i like not getting all the answers in every book - allowing you to think about things and decide what happened with x and y for yourself. not criticisms by the way, just observations.

i'll give it an 8 out of 10.

next one when you can please.
clappp clappp

Thanks Katcha. The first person narrative and voice means some people might not get it, though the feedback has been great so far, from people over the age of sixty and from those who would never even say the word "damn", never mind some of the ripe language used in Kicked Out.

The bedrooms do play a big part in the book and I can obviously visualise them from the hostel I worked in. Maybe I should have given more description. I think there's some there, though its hardly a descriptive novel, even even when it comes to major characters. Interesting point and one I'd never thought of.

And there are unanswered questions in the book. I wonder what yours are though? Danny symbolises many young people in similar situations, as do other characters. So to tidy up endings wouldnt really work. Things could go either way in real life.
Anyway, thanks for your comments. And hopefully if anyone else reads it they might leave them too.
Appreciated...

He's making it up Grabec. There isnt even a character called Lucy in it. Unless he's reading someone else's book by mistake or simply hallucinating...
