My free trial that I got with my new laptop a couple of months ago has just ran out at quite an inopportune moment. I've got an application I need to do for Thursday and I can't adjust any of my CVs or covering letters.

Does anyone know where I can get a free download of this, cos I ain't paying £177 for it! Are there any reliable versions available as torrents?

This http://www.openoffice.org/ is what no6 told me to use and it seems really good so far. Free too!

It is good Mr Swift, Office in all but name. Trouble is if you send you documents by e-mail, and the recipient doesn't have it, they obviously won't open. Fine for writing and printing at home though. :wink:

You're more likely to have trouble from people sending stuff in the new .docx format that MS has imposed but nobody wants.

"File" > "Save As" gives you a million options for saving it in different formats.
