I'm going getting the train from Gillingham to London Victoria, across to London Paddington by tube, booked on the 11:00 to Bristlol Temple Meads to catch a connecting service to Bristol Parkway, where we'll have to get a bus or taxi or evn walk down to the ground.

Anybody know the name of the nearest pub?

Get mummy to give you a note for the taxi driver , you can just show him were mummy says you want to be.

Make sure you have talk time on your mobile, in case of emergency, and keep train tickets safe, especially the return one.

Other things mummy may tell you is not to drink to much alcohol with the nasty men who get drunk, and stay away from any trouble.

Tell mummy I promise her that I will look after you.

Don't tell mummy, that we will take you to Fishponds Road, Warwick Road, Portland and Brunswick Square and York Street, St Werburgh's.

It's about a 20-30 minute walk, the ground guide website I go on advises that you should either get a taxi from outside the station or a number 73 bus to along Gloucester Road in Filton or Horfield near the ground.

it's a 20 minute bus ride to the ground - under no circumstances attempt to walk it and expect to catch your train.
Not if you want to catch it on the same day at any rate..............

PS that's from both the Parkway and Temple Meads - Bristol Rovers is smack bang in the middle of them.
The nearest satellite rail stations are still at least 1.5 miles away

Ah, I'm with you now. I assumed he'd be getting the train to Redland or Montpelier. PoK, if you're going to Parkway get a taxi. To be honest, it's as easy to get one from Temple.

Do you know much it will cost to get a taxi from Temple Meads to Bristol Rovers FC? Would it be roughly the same as from Bristol Parkway ?

Yeah, that's what we''ll definitely do - get a bus from Parkway to the ground. We won't walk.

Word of warning for anybody planning on travelling by train from Wales - the train only goes as far as Newport and then a bus (taking the best part of an hour) to Bristol Parkway.

Looks like it's the National Express (baa da ba da, baa da ba da...) for the Ponty boys

Anybody know the bus number to the ground from Brizzle station?

yeah I knew about the rail disruption when I go tthe tickets - the 73 bus is the one you want from Parkway. They run every 15 mins, and it takes about 15 mins to get to BRFC ground from the station by bus

we are goin, me, me sister, her fella and me daughter for her first ever Pools game.
If we get relegated i'm really going to regret taking her to this one as her first...

Do I not take her.
Take her and lie if we get relegated and deny it.
Take her and celebrate our survival.
Do I take her and if we get relegated its a good introduction to her Poolie supporting life.

You forgot the option "take her and watch us try our level best to get relegated then try to convince her we somehow survived"

Yep, I missed that option, but thats the right one.
When I started watchin them they were always applying for realection so at least they are 1 league up and survived, kids these days dont know how lucky they are.

If, and I know at the moment it is a big if, we stay in League 1 again next season, then we will for the first time in our Club's history stay in the third tier of English football for three consecutive seasons. I know not a huge achievement, in the great scheme of things, but for a club with a current following of 3,500 it will be. Some of you on here seem to think we have a god given right to be in the third division. stpid sctatchinghead

You meant four seasons didn't you, eh, didn't you.

The last time we had 3 consecutive seasons I wasn't expecting a fourth, but I expected us to leave by a different door!

I thought this was would be the third time we've been in the third tier for more than two seasons?

No three, so far our previous best has been stay up for two years, relegated on the third. We've done that twice, and of course we only lasted one year after our first promotion. What I thought I was saying was that if we stay up, next season, it will be the first time we can go into a fourth season at the higher level.
