Just imagine how low down that list he'd be if he wasn't "as good as any keeper in the league"?

It's all down to the defence though, even though it's the same defence that has played with both keepers.

I don't know whether I feel satisfied that the point most people have been trying to make all season is a correct and fair one or unbelievably frustrated at the points Wilson's then Turner's stubbornness on this issue has cost us.

agree. I don't give a flying one about the reasons for him being kept out for indiscipline etc - we are fighting for survival here and playing Budtz is the best chance we have of achieving that aim. Playing Barrett on Monday would be an instantly sackable offence if it was up to me

Surpprised to see Eddie Edgar & Des McPartland in the bottom 10, I would have expected to see Rob Moverley there (but thanks to Katcha's book see that he only played 29 league games).

Have you actually seen ALB in goal for more then one match?

I doubt you have, otherwise you wouldn't come 2nd to your 'kid' in the sarcasm stakes

ALB is the worst keeper I have seen at Pools (and that includes the Sunday league player who played for Donny in 1997 and our very own Steven Jones) in over twenty years

My first thought on seeing these stats is - how could anyone be surprised. Big jan lost his way last year but shapes like a proper keeper.

My second thought is : I saw Steve jones. My god, how bad must Norman Oakley have been. Was it some ww2 thing where there were no people with two arms and legs available. BELOW jones!

Im sure Steve Jones only got a game for pools as a result of the 'save' he made against palace where he closed down some palace striker and blocked it. I think it is the only save I ever saw him manage

Oakley has played more games for us than any other keeper. He was the regular goalkeeper between 58 and 64 - a period in which we finished bottom of the Football League twice (the only two seasons we've ever done so), and second bottom three times. So it's fair to say he played in a particularly shite team.

Wasn't he colour blind , as well ?

Whoah whoah whoah! Norman Oakley was a better keeper than the two we've got without a shadow of a doubt. It was him alone who stopped us losing by EVEN MORE. He joined the team just after the Westgarth/Moore era when everything went tits up and even if we'd had Lev Yashin in goal we'd still have conceded hundreds.

Budtz and Barret however have both been playing behind the same shite defence, so as Mr John says, fair comparison.
