I was under the impression that any player who recieved a red card had there suspension begin from the next game, regardless of length of ban i.e 1 game or 3 games.

Ross Hyslop of Scunthorpe was sent off on the 04/04/09, and suspended for 3 games, yet the ban doesnt start till the 18/04/09, 2 weeks later. More importantly allowing him to play in 2 games between the sending off and the ban starting (Good Friday and Easter Monday fixtures) 3 other players sent off on the same day also don't have their ban start till the 18th.

Now if we assume the ban starts one week after the sending off, then he may be eligible for the Good Friday fixture (only 6 days after) but working on that ,then surely the ban would begin with their game on the on the 11th. And once more I thought with a sending off the ban kicked in from next game. Now his sending off couldnt have been for 2 yellow's as it a 3 game ban ( violent conduct comes to mind)

Can anyone explain to me, or am I missing something simple here

Could it be related to whether a player appeals a red card? Not sure if he has indeed appealed, just making a suggestion

A player appealing his red card did cross my mind.

Until i thought about ALB being sent off against Southend (Friday 27th March), banned against Hereford on 4th April (next game) we appealed and lost that. So that reason I ruled out any appeal affecting a ban, surely the FA would hear any appeal prior to the next game being played, if not teams would appeal regardless if they needed a player for an important game which was their next fixture.

I.e Ronaldo sent off in league against anyone , Man u next fixture was say semi final of FA Cup. Man U appeal, Ronaldo available, banned from next league game (just an example)

It doesn't matter. Scunny can play their best 11 players ever and we'll still dick 'em. This is the most nailed-on victory Pools this year. I'd be surprised if we don't put at least three past them.
As for how many they score, God knows.
