It was interesting to hear the sarcastic cheers on Saturday when Ritchie got subbed but it is quite sad aswell.

I have been one of his critics for a while now but its a real shame that a player who was so valued when he come to the club is starting to look out of his depth. This is obviously not his fault as such, he is after all being asked to play as a left back which he simply cannot do (he does a reasonable/mediocre job there in league 2 but in league 1 he is lost).

The blame lies firmly with the management but its a real travesty to see such a player becoming an almost joke figure as a result of mismanagement. If we do not have a role for Ritchie in a playing capacity then we should either allow him to join another club or offer him a non-playing role (presuming he is qualified to do so and is happy to hang up his boots)

I appreciate he is not 'over the hill' in terms of age but his legs have obviously gone.

When Collins scored on Saturday while Ritchie was in the dugout it was noticable how animated Ritchie was, more so than anyone else on the bench. His heart is obviously with the club, lets just get a different role for him and stop ruining the lads reputation.

Skarz looked 'ok' but we have not seen him tested yet. If he is not the answer we need to be looking for a left back before next season. It is a must.

To say his legs have gone is absolutely laughable.

His positional sense isn't good and he can't really tackle, that's why he struggles at full back. His legs haven't gone, he'd have struggled to play full back when he was 19. He still gets up and down and links up with Monkhouse, if his legs had gone he wouldn't be doing that it's the strongest part of his game. He should be competing for a place in midfield, he's done a job for us at full back to the detriment of his own game for long enough to the point we have morons cheering his substitution ironically.

I really dont think he has the legs to play in midfield. People are moaning about Ben Cark struggling to play there so Ritchie would not have a cat in hells chance. Ritchie has clearly lost pace since he come to the club and while he could cope with playing in midfield when he first got here, he couldnt now. Besides, we have enough players who can play in central midfield especially now Sweeney has been moved back there.

I felt sorry for Ritchie.

He's given his all for the club and gets ironically cheered because he's struggled while playing out of position.

Whatever you think of Ritchie's value to the team these days I don't think he deserves to have people take the piss

Exactly.

LOL, i get the pictures now! I dont see how Im being two faced. I dont think he is good enough but its a real shame to see someone who WAS a useful player and clearly cares about the club becoming a joke player as a result of management playing him out of position.

I can't believe some of you on here rage rage . Ritchie is nearly always exposed by a lack of support from midfield as well as playing out of position. Monkhouse good a player as he is doesn't always track back and support the defence, he seems to have a roving roll at times leaving the right winger acres of space, this happened quite a lot on Saturday. I think the critisism is unjust and certainly a player of Ritchies loyalty doesn't deserve this.

There is far too much sentiment in football and too many players are kept at clubs for there past glories.

Fantastic players in there day, but it's no longer that day and it takes a manager with balls to get rid of them.

Humphreys is a prime example of this.

If one more person mentions that he puts in loads of effort and loves the club i feel screaming, i'm sure we'd all put loads of effort in and would love pools but we don't deserve to play.

Players like Brackston, Robson, Robertson etc have been villified at full back by some sections of fans for not doing half as bad as humphreys there.

whats loyalty got to do with it ???? its not like he is playing for nothing is it ??? jeez you would think he was doing charity work for the red cross in iraq the way some went on.

he is totally out of his depth, even turner who is as blind as a bat can see it and has brought in cover.

great player in the past... yes.

has shown loyalty to the club in the past.... yes.

an utter liability for the last 6 months.... sadly, yes.

he doesnt deserve the ironic jeers, i actually applauded him off the pitch, but if he is still considered first team material next season ( and the same goes for collins, boland, budz, barrett, etc ) then it is a sign of a clear lack of ambition on the part of ior.

the whole back four/keeper thing needs dismantling and rebuilding. sorry but thats the harsh reality of the situation.

Sorry Chip, I have to disagree with you. Only six months indeed rolfl

Humphreys has taken stupid criticism this season, but alas, chip is correct. He is now way out of his depth at left back.

The worrying thing for me though, he was the least out of his depth in that back four on saturday. And he was also having to try and mark Herefords best player.

Collins, Liddle and Nelson were much much worse, and they are supposed to BE defenders. banghead

don't go along with that chris, he's trained everyday in that position for 3 years now, if he aint got positional sense by now he's never going to have it.

He should by now have adapted.

Because I would like to see it happen

PS

I can't recall 'everyone' commenting on Ritchies fitness or whatever, I have NEVER said it, so it can't be everyone, can it?
