That "tighter than..." thread got me wondering what your favourite mixed metaphors are.

The one that had me falling about laughing for some reason was "They're shooting a gift horse in the mouth". And why the hell shouldn't they shoot the fookah there if it that's the best way to kill it? Eh?

i always thought the tighter remark involved a DUCK and it was the badger that was considered ROUGH
same with your latest metaphor i thought it was you never look a gift horse in the mouth

meaning you never inspect the teeth [to find the age] of a gift horse bad manners
