After today i can't honestly see what else in terms of team selection that Turner can do. He put our strongest team out on paper but it is not the abilty of the players that is hurtling us towards relegation but the attitude and application of the players on the pitch.
As stated by the reverend further down - 2- 0 at half time and it could well have been 4, and yet still we can't put the game to bed. Even after the free kick to make it 2-1 we still had Jones's gilt edged chance to make it 3-1 which i'm sure would have finished them off.
Here's the difference though. When Harris's scores that free kick, he went round to virtually every single one of his team mates, got right in their faces and told them that "we can do this" - you could see the lift in their overall play and workrate. Contrast that with our reaction. Heads dropped, no one communicated, no one cojoled - why?? its not as though we haven't got experienced pro's in that team is it?? I never thought i'd say this but oh to have Willie Boland's fighting tenacity and spirit in the mix up yesterday. That for me is the reason we are going south - not enough of the pro's out there care enough about HUFC. Some of them, and they know who they are, already have eyes on other clubs. That seems strange to me because apart from Porter - and we all know deep down that that is a done deal - i think the only players who would interest clubs in our present league are Monkhouse and Nelson.

I don't want to go over yesterdays proceedings as its bad enough just thinking about it - but for what its worth, here is what i think Turner should do long term. In the short term we can only pray that this current side finds some backbone away from home and picks points up against the likes of Yoevil and Hereford.

Keepers. Let Budtz go, give ALB a month to month or 6 month contract. Get a proven goalkeeper back in. Dimi seems to be dotting about at every Championship club these days and i reckon he'd jump at the chance to return here. If not then pay decent money to get one in.

Defence. Needs wholesale changes. As everyone i've spoke to over the last few years has pointed out - we need to new full backs, nothing flashy, just honest to god full backs with positional sense and who can put a meaty challenge in and overall defend. Centre backs, Nelson is going to be snapped up and i wouldn't renew Collins contract so we'd need a new pairing and for me that would be Liddle and Ben Clark with either a new centre half as cover (Westwood perhaps) or give young Tait a go.

Midfield. Need an experienced pro in the mould of Tommy Widds or Mark Tinkler to dovetail with Tony Sweeney. The only bright spot of yesterday was Sweens performance. Even taking away the goals, it was his work ethic and box to box performance that unfortunately none of his team mates could get near that was more impressive. Keep hold of Monkhouse on the left with Robson as back up and i would also perservere with Jones on the right but possibly get in an extra midfielder as cover for both central and right side positions.

Forwards. Start from scratch. I wouldn't chase any of the current loan players we have as i don't think they would warrant the outlay in wages on what i've seen of them. Pray to god that James Brown is fit and raring to go for next season - regardless of what division we are in. I wouldn't go back in for Boydy but i'd look at the teams who get promoted from our league or relegated and try and get a physical centre forward to pair with Brown. Thinking along the lines of Paul Hayes at scunny, Alexander yesterday for Millwall, Akinfenwa from Northampton. Perhaps the worst thing about all of this is that we had such a player in the palm of our hands but due to the ineptitude and slow machinations of the IOR set up - we let Danny Graham somehow end up at Carlisle when his best mate (Lidds) presented us with him on a plate

As for the rest of the players, been tried and tried but just ain't good enough, i.e Foley, Mackay, Power. I wouldn't let Rowell or any of the other young lads go simply because they haven't been given a chance. Turner could have given them oppo's if the current squad had mustered enough points to get us safe but therin lies the problem.

What does everyone else think??

Keep Sweeney, Clark, Brown and Monk (if he wants to stay). Free or make available for transfer the rest.

very good synopsis BUT nelse would struggle to get into any other team at the moment as he is playing shite
westwood isnt the player he was so no point in bringing him back.
alb is exposed by his defence so ends up being the "escape goat"

Surely theres players been here to long now imo, too comfortable. The ones out of contract that arent up for it need naffing off as soon as the season ends. Like Grave has already stated though Turner will be the one put in charge of hiring and firing so what chance has any potential manager got when hes getting stuck with players he may not want?

these useless twats would lose 4-0 or something pathetic like that
Massive clearout needed and a whole new mentality required, as these pricks don't have any spine
I hope they weren't out enjoying themselves last night - they should be pun ished today with hard physical training

I would keep Nardiello as he has been superb away from home but hasn't impressed at home, I think he'll come good and people will be impressed. Him and Brownie upfront would be a great combination. The defence is the main concern though, if it had been tighter yesterday we wouldn't be having this conversation and we'd have actually probably ended up scoring in the second half as the forwards wouldn't have been under so much pressure.

all I can say is.... Turner is a wan-ker for persisting with PROVEN failures in fefence. He really does need horse whipping, the relegation-riddled fu-ckwit
