Don't do films. Read the book though, ages ago. Its great, well recommended and bound to be better than the film

I think I skimmed through the book once. Isn't our ex-chairman mentioned in it?

I read about the first 50 pages, and have never had any enthusiasm to go back to it.

Well I'm looking forward to reading it. What's this about signed copies?

Did you ever get round to booking a spot at the Bridge blue room, BWH?

My launch is on April 9th at Waterstones in Newcastle - 6.30pm to 8.00pm, followed by local pub and me getting mortal. Its the Thursday night before bank holiday friday. I'll be performing with a local musician/rapper who has been homeless on four occasions and who's mother died of a heroin overdose when he was eleven. He has lyrics through the book.
Elvis got an invite on facebook. Anyone from here is very welcome to come along, including your good self, should they wish.
Was wondering about the place you told me about and had forgotten the name. Done a few performances with this rapper and have gone down a storm so want to do others. Is the Bridge in Durham?

Thanks for the invitation :coool: I'll try and get there

The Bridge is in Newcastle. It's in Castle Garth, opposite the Castle Keep, on the N'castle side of the High Level Bridge. All sorts goes on there...and it's a proper traditional pub with good beer. The blue room has its own web site at www.blueroom.org.uk. They're always inviting people to apply to read there, so worth a try if you're looking for a venue.

Ta chuck. They're on a temporary break at the moment according to the website - but it looks good.
I've done some readings at something called Quayside Stories and the place they were in has closed, so they've moved to the Bridge Hotel. So I'll be on in May reading an extract, will check it out then.
Thanks again

There's a reading at the Blue Room on March 22nd but it's for women poetry and prose writers. Men can go to listen but they can't recite anything.

Yeah, but I don't make the rules.

It's partly because all the literature grants etc seem to go to male writers, so it's felt that the balance should be tilted a bit, to give women more chance to get their work recognised
