It's actually "ordered to listen", which is even better.

The line that always springs to my mind is "I don't feel bad about letting you go; I just feel sad about letting you know."

And of course the monumental, "to die by your side, all the pleasure the privilege is mine."

But there must be dozens of others floating about in my brain somewhere. I'll keep you posted.

I could say that you look pretty
that would make me a liar
but you turn my legs to spaghetti
and set my heart on fire

Ok
Just a little pinprick
There'll be no more --Aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, Good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go

I wish that for just one time
you could stand inside my shoes
and just for that one moment
I could be you.

Yes, I wish that for just one time
you could stand inside my shoes.
You'd know what a drag it is
to see you.

How can you try to mould me
when you can't even unfold me
all you every try to do is control me

How did you think i would turn out?
Set in stone, or washed-up, burnt out?

etc etc etc

There's always another of my faves:

Did I dream you dreamed about me
Were you hare when I was fox
Now my foolish boat is leaning
Broken, lovelorn on you rocks

That's poetry that, see...

I'm as puzzled as the oyster
I'm as riddled as the tide
Should I stand amid the breakers
Or should I lie with death my bride

A heart that's full up like a landfill..
A job that slowly kills you..
Bruises that won't heal.

You look, so tired & unhappy..
Bring down the Government..
They don't, They don't speak for us.

Love the first line, the last 2 just seem to fit the current mood.

this will bring a tear to anyone's eye

Guts and blood, bones are broken
As they eat your pancreas
Human liver, for their dinner
Or maybe soup with eyes
Cause of death, still unknown
Gnawing meat, from your bones
Bone saw binding in your skull
Brains are oozing a human stump
Needles injected, through your eyes
Pulling off flesh, skinned alive

For I'm drunk today, and I'm seldom sober,
A handsome rover from town to town,
Ah, but I'm sick now, my days are numbered,
Come all you young men and lay me down.

or from the brilliant Morrissey...:

then on the sand - another man
he takes her hand
a smile lights up her stupid face - and well, it would
I lost my faith in womanhood

To the tune of 'If I was a rich man' from Fiddler on the Roof:

If I was a linesman
I would execute defenders who applauded my offsides

Incidentally, does anyone know if 'Fiddler on the Roof' has ever been used as a tabloid headline to describe a nonce in a rooftop scenario?

I don't believe in an interventionist God But I know, darling, that you do But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him Not to intervene when it came to you Not to touch a hair on your head To leave you as you are And if He felt He had to direct you Then direct you into my arms Into my arms.
