A furious Chris Turner laid into his players after seeing them beaten 1-0 by Leyton Orient at Victoria Park this afternoon.

The boss admitted that the Club are in a relegation battle and the said the emphasis was on the players to show they had the passion to lift themselves away from the drop zone.

"It was absolute rubbish, that's what I saw out there today," he told Pools World.

"That's what I mean when I talk about inconsistency - on Tuesday night every player was running, battling, fighting, running, chasing. This afternoon there was none of it.

"The training on Thursday and Friday was fantastic and I though Leyton Orient were there for the taking but I've been fooled by them - but I shouldn't be because I've seen it before.

"The so-called superstars of our team - where were they today? I said to the players at half-time that I wished I could get the doctor in to give them an injection of passion and of commitment and fight.

"I told them that apart from two or three of them they need to look in the mirror and ask 'did I do enough for that team and the supporters?' - and if they say 'yes' they're lying to themselves.

"We're in a battle and I have thought we've been in a battle for a few weeks. I haven't drawn attention to it but if they can't see it then they'll never see it.

"It's up to the players now to play to a level that they know they can play to because we were poor all over the park today."

Thats all very well but he and Wilson before him, keeps picking the same failing players and formation.

Its a mirror image of last season, in fact its starting to resemble the Scott season, when we thought we were too good to go down. Like last season I am sure we will go on a little run of 3 wins on the bounce to get the 10 or 12 pts needed to stay up, but it is worrying at the moment, most of the teams below us have 2 games in hand and one of them games is against us, a team with no backbone, who never win away. Games at Hereford , Cheltenham , Crewe, Swindon , Bristol Rovers, appear home bankers at the moment , and if that happens we will be in a precarious position. We need to rack up the points at home to survive.
