Don't get me wrong he's always someone who I've considered thick but he surpassed himself with his comments in the Echo today;

"What can you do, maybe shut the league down for a month over Christmas?"

"Somethings got to be done because if you look at what's happened over the last few weeks, every club has lost a couple of games"

"Maybe we've got to the stage in this country where we should shut down the season for a month and extend the season by a few weeks"

"It would make more sense to extend the season than for teams to be playing twice a week"



Alright we'll do all that. We'll shut the season down for a month after Christmas (Saturdays game was February 7th six weeks after Christmas). We'll extend the season by a 'few weeks' to accommodate your month long break to avoid playing twice a week, even though you've just shortened the number of weeks in the season.

This is before we consider the fact that nobody can predict what month bad weather is going to arrive in, or the fact that the club down the road (us) haven't had a game called off for any reason for over five years. What if you have a month long break in a mild January then have an Arctic February? November, December, January, February, and even March can see bad winter weather in this country. Sometimes we have extremely mild winters. What you need to do is just ensure that your club are prepared for it, fook winter breaks.
