If I was you elvis i would avoid this road at all costs on a morning. I too live the south side of the town and when i was working in Boro I went the A19 on two occasions at 7.30 and it also took over an hour to reach Smogg city. I found it much easier going the seal sand route. a little bit longer but much quicker.

worth a shout???

Total nightmare - just took me an hour and twenty minutes to get from the Elwick junction to the boro. A lot of the problems are to do with the work that is going on on the A66 causing the traffic from the A19 to build up.

Having said that it was still a pain before they started those roadworks - just too much traffic for the roads I suppose.

Anyone going to Boro via the a19 flyover is in for a huge wait. Its a joke on the morning, takes me about 10/15 minutes to get from billingham to the a66 heading to darlow for work. Traffic into boro is just crazy, theres ques back upto preston farm area and sometimes further on the a66 going to boro. So not so much a19 around boro but the backup from the 66.

Should have read Jonny Mars post first.

I pretty much gave up on the A19 a couple of weeks ago, unless I'm working a Saturday. It was getting ridiculous. Now using the Port Clarence route. Leave 8.30 in at Portrack Lane just before 9.00.
Previously had to leave around 8.15 to have even a chance of getting in on time. Some days traffic was tailed back to Elwick turn off. My brother who lives about 2 miles this side of Richmond could set off later than me and get in before me!
On a Saturday, A19 is a doddle. Door to door in 15 mins.

The Tees Road from North Tees Works, all along Port Clarence up to the railway bridge traffic lights at Haverton Hill is chocker on a tea time. It's the opposite on a morning, going towards the Transporter/ Hartlepool, so if you're going to Teesside from the Pool on a morning and make the return journey on a night, the traffic jams are always in the opposite direction!! Cushty!!
