Trinidad and Barbados are good for calypso but the chances of you catching the sort of quality rocksteady and roots reggae that Randy's put out in the 60s and 70s are remote. Being able to afford nice holidays isn't the same as knowing anything about music.

This was out when we were over in Trinidad in 1998. Far better than the cover version done later. Yeah man!

I watched a tribute concert to Bob Marley when I was in Jamaica, the headline act was The Melody Makers whom I think are some of Bobs children.

Talking of nice holidays, Jamaica isn't one of them, it's a dodgy island with lots of gang fights, black people with major attitude problems against the whites even the pubs in Kingston had notices up on the doors say "No dogs or English sailors".

The other end of the paradise scale is The British Virgin Island friendly locals, no trouble and pure relaxation, and loads of steel bands and calypso music :grin:

We are talking the 90's when this happened, we went to loads of islands in the Caribbean and the only 2 places we had hassle was Jamaica & Puerto Rico and at Puerto Rico it was because they thought we were Yanks, once they found out we were Brits they welcomed us.
