Calling all medical personages.
Having been laid up with flu all week and with too much time on my hands I thought I'd ask the question.....what use is there for snot?
I've produced bucket loads of the stuff in this last week, there must be a reason for it!!!
Is there such a thing as a snot gland?
One minute its running freely the next its clogging up the system and you can't get shot of it.
Am I missing something - does it serve any function?

Its purpose in life is to block dust, germs & pollen to stop them getting into your lungs, we actually produce a cupful of nasal mucus every day and much of it ends up getting swallowed!

Hope that helps.

So at what point does it decide to turn solid instead of running like a tap?

I seem to do well avoiding coughs and colds because of all the spicy food I eat, along with loads of garlic and chilli and stuff...
however I still seem to produce loads of nose puke

The curry theory is a good one and I have subsribed to it for many a long year, I usually attack a cold with a rogan josh and sweat the germs from my system. The flu is different tho and sweating don't cure it.
I've been stuck in the house for a week now and haven't been able to get to the chemist, the paracetamol have run out, I'm down to my last lemsip, I just raided the bairns calpol melts (they are truly discusting) am gonna lamb buna a takeaway tonight as a kill or cure last resort.
