I've been informed by a scouser friend of mine that it's to do with people form Kirby (where Everton are meant to be moving) being "sock robbers".

Apparantly ITV messed up and missed showing the goal in some regions.

thats correct.here in the south west the were showing that annoying car advert where the gadgie starts karate kicking for no apparent reason, as it finished they cut back to the everton players celebrating the goal, then as they were about to replay the goal another advert kicked in.

It happened here in the South East. They cut to showing the "Family Football advert" and a normal group of TV ads in what seemed like a normally passage of play, and then suddenly the adverts cut out to show the Dan Gosling and the Everton players and everyone at Goodison celebrating suddenly. That's when we'd realised, somebody had suddenly pressed a button to go to adverts and cut away from the match at the time Everton scored, the only time they scored through a dull League-type, game and then when they come back Everton celebrate and we missed the goal being scored live.

We couldn't believe it!

What a famous cock-up that could turn out to be !

Well someone must care about it Michael Grade reckons who ever should have been responsible for controlling the adverts that night might be in very, very hot water.
