That new Cadburys one is dreadful. Totally unfunny.

The Guinness ones are usually pretty good.

The worst ever is that Frosties one with this little waste of spuff in it...

POK, Mark Benton is NOT a Geordie, he's from Guisborough!!

And that Howard off the Halifax ads is one of the most annoying tw@ts ever to grace an advert!

I'm with you on this one Mr Head, I have to go out of the room to stop me shouting at the telly.

You do realise it is hard to tell a Hartlepool accent apart from a North Yorkshire accent and a Teeside accent because they sound so similar.

In the past, when actors from the North-East have been used to indicate a North East accent in TV etc, the only accent they have had is a Newcastle-Upon-Tyne accent.

Is there any difference between a person frm Newcastle and one from Sunderland say in their accents.

It's like Jeff Stelling for example, most people down here can't tell from his accent that he's from Hartlepool, his voice is clipped, very professional etc. If some people didn't know that he's from Hartlepool but recognised he was from the North East because of he has a accent, they'd most probably think he was Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and had a Newcastle acent.

At a guess which ever ones you picked as your "worst adverts" are doing their job better than the rest.

It is for you

There is a marked difference between the North Yorks accent and an Hartlepool accent, even Helen Keller could tell you that

POK, you talk from a position of no knowledge.

Can you tell the difference between a Sunderland and Newcastle accent? Absolutely yes you can, they're as different as chalk and cheese. It's much the same between Sunderland and Hartlepool, very different accents.

Were you aware, Mr POK, that there is not just one Hartlepool accent? Compare Hart Station with Owton Manor and they're worlds apart. One is closer to a yakker accent whereas the other is closer to a Teesside twang.

The further away you live, the less difference you hear between accents.

I mean, Vulcans and Klingons both sound exactly the same to me but apparently they are two completely different languages.

No I admit that there wasn't just one Hartlepool accent or that there is such thing as a Wearside accent compared to a Tyneside accent.

Where would people from Elwick Road come under then, in terms of accents, would you say?
