Taken from FA Website

Five players are once again in the frame to be voted 'E.ON Player of the Round' and take their place at The FA Cup Final on 30 May, following their display in the Third Round Proper.

First on the list is Wolves and England Under-21 midfielder, Michael Kightly. Wolves produced a great performance to defeat Birmingham City at St. Andrew's and both of their goals were set up by the impressive Kightly. He also had an effort cleared off the line in the second half.

Although their FA Cup dream was ended by Derby County in a seven-goal thriller, a Forest Green Rovers player has earned himself a place on our shortlist. Forest Green took the lead after just 15 minutes through a wonderful 25-yard strike from 22-year-old Jonathan Smith, a moment that is sure to live with him for the rest of his life.

In their tie against Premier League Stoke City, Hartlepool United's Michael Nelson delivered at both ends of the pitch to help the League One side produce one of the shocks of the round. He scored the opening goal with a towering header and then played superbly in the heart of defence to help maintain Hartlepool's clean sheet.

Southend United managed to shock Chelsea by earning a well-deserved replay following their 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. Goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall was supreme and even though the hosts had over 15 shots on goal, they were only able to score once. Deep into injury time Franco Di Santo had the chance to snatch victory, but Mildenhall pulled off a stunning save to secure a replay back at Roots Hall.

Nathan Tyson set Nottingham Forest on their way to a memorable 3-0 victory at the City of Manchester stadium with an astonishing 20-yard left-foot volley. Tyson performed admirably up front with Robert Earnshaw and the victory has secured a local derby in the next round where they will take on Derby County.

The five names were selected by a panel which includes Mark Clemmit of Radio Five Live, Howard Wheatcroft of the Daily Star, FA Cup hero Ricky George, ITV pundit Andy Townsend and E.ON Managing Director Graham Bartlett.

The 'E.ON Player of the Round' award is presented to the outstanding player at each stage of competition, starting from the First Round Qualifying all the way to the Semi-Final

How can that be a fair way to judge player of the round?

It's a popularity contest, players from clubs with more fans will come out on top every time...
