Well if Leeds or Leicester are really in for him then I imagine he'll definitely go to one of them

No disrespect to Nelson (not Parmos dog) but does anyone think he is good enough to step upto the championship?

bottom half maybe. But he's gonna go if he gets the chance I imagine. Who knows. Maybe he needs the new challenge? When he first signed and for the first couple of seasons most people I know reckoned he could have made it up to the Championship.

Yes. He had premiership forrwards in his pocket against West Brom and Stoke. Admittedly they were low level premier league players but surely decent championship players. He does need someone alongside him who is more mobile though.

Agreed but his inconsistency over the last 18-24 months has made him look like a league two player. But there could be other factors why he hasnt performed maybe, we will never know.

He hasn't been inconsistent for 18-24 months.

18-24 months ago he was playing in League Two proving he was miles about that level, we went half the season keeping clean sheets and rarely remember him having a bad game. He is very much undervalued by Pools fans, I think other factors have contributed to some moderate games (Antwi, cock fingers, ALB ect..)

Its more than 18 months since we were League 2, just giving an opinion. He looked like a league 2 player vs Oldham away (judging by the goals conceded i seen) but the last two home games he has looked steady. Thats inconsistency in my eyes.

he wouldn't get a game at Leicester,
unless one of the existing centrebacks gets injured ( or sold ).

They currently have a Bulgarian who is Championship ( or higher ) class,
plus a choice of two others. They can all play football too !

Ok we were in League Two 20 months ago but you did say 18-24 months

He had a very good game at Oldham by all accounts he made a mistake, I'm not disputing that his form in the last year hasn't been as good as it was previously but I think that started when Wilson didn't sign a decent keeper to replace Dimi and he split the Nelson/Clark partnership in favour in Antwi.

In short I'm blaming Wilson!

LeicesterPoolie2, Tunchev is injured, out for the season I heard.

hes a good defender but his distribution and lack of pace have meant he hasnt moved to a division before now. yes he was immense against stoke but they played to his major strength by lumping long balls league 2 style up front for him to win all game. just my opinion like its not FACT or nothing

Would pools be mental enough to sell Nelson for any amount of cash given it will leave us with 2 fit centre halves?

I'd imagine some kind of swap/part ex deal may be in the offing if any of this is true.

I not heard any rumours with regards to Nelson being off to Leeds , though had heard the Leicester one, which of course made some of the national press sport pages.

At this moment in time I can't see us selling any players to anyone and will probably hold on to the regular first teamers, even if it means them walking on a Bosman in the close season. (Dimi couple years ago, ok we were going for promotion). Porter this year.

Unless Turner has someone lined up I personally can't see anyone leaving, but I have been wrong in the past, I will attempt to find out more.

If I do it will appear on here as soon as I do.

I'd be surprised if we accepted £150,000 if Leeds want him they can afford to pay more, they paid half a million for Huntingdon from Newcastle last season and he can't he even get a game in the league. They need a centre back the ball is in our court. I question the legitimacy of the 'bid' when you see that Nelson's agent was mentioned. Remember the previous problems back in 2005?

yes, I heard Tunchev went off yesterday, but the Nelson rumours have been circulating for a while.
Plus as I said Nelson is no Tunchev

I'm not disputing that but Leicester's need for a centre back has just become greater. If we've accepted £150,000 from either of these two clubs we want our heads looking at.

Update today.

Leeds possibly in for him at between 50-70k (dont shoot the messenger just what I been told).

Along with 2 other Yorkshire clubs in Huddersfield and Bradford.

With regards to Bradford , he may not want to drop down a division to them.

O and supposedly one other club in for him as well, though as pointed out by Chip on this thread he is a family man so may not want to go to them as it bit far away.

That club is our former manager's new club. So you dont need me to actually name them.

But before any one starts to dig up previous manager's who happen to be somewhere else I think I will.

Its reportedly Swindon.

Wilson actually DID say during a phone in that he would be interested in signing Michael Nelson IF he was available but I didn't actually think he'd put a bid in for him.

If I was Nelson, I'd be looking at staying at Pools for a few more years and getting a testimonial out of the club then getting a job much like Stepho and Barron did. He'd get a nice big lump sum that would put him in a nice financial position for the rest of his life and the possibility of another career after this one ends. He's only 26 and been here 5 and a half years. He's only got 4 more seasons after this one which will fly over and he'll still only be early 30's.

If he went to Leeds he would eventually be replaced and he'd rot on the bench for the rest of his career, Leeds won't be in this division for much longer and Nelson would never survive in the Chammpionship.

Depends on how much they offer him i would of thought sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

And if he waited till the end of the season he'd get a nice signing on fee to go with a nice weekly wage

I appreicate what you're saying but I don't feel a move to Leeds would necessarily be the best move for Nelson in the long term. They'd offer him more money but he knows his position at Pools would be a lot more secure and a greater possibility of having a job waiting for him when he finishes.

Surely though we should be thinking what's best for the club rather than what's best for Nelson. Against Stoke he was immense but he's made far too many mistakes this season and last and I am thinking he may be on too much of a comfort zone. I am not saying I want him to go, if his contract is up I'd offer him another but if Pools were made a good enough offer then I would sell him if I was in charge of such matters providing the transfer fee was re-invested in the team.
