Although we didnt play very well. Good job Northampton were utter shite as we kept giving them the ball all game. Dont think they mustered a shot on target?

Jones looks much more effective in the middle, Monkhouse did well on the right and a nice little run for the 2nd goal. 2 great finishes from Joel, not quite sure why he was left on so long, maybe were trying to run him into the ground? Matty had an off day but will be back to his best Saturday no doubt. Clark was poor first half but got better in second and Nelson looked more assured with him by his side.

Job done.

agreed. my devastating man flu doesn't allow me to illuminate the board with my ratings tonight, but the first ten minutes and the last twenty were good.

mackay deserved a goal and the new lad looked to have half a brain in his head. joel was awesome and took both goals really well.

we dropped off them too much in the first but pressed the ball well in the second. clark was very good too.

they were dogshit like

Goals just been on Sky Sports news, great ball through from Monky for second and good dink over the keeper from Joel, took his first well too but thats Joel.

Not so sure about Jones still but he is better in the middle, though I'd still give Power a longer run out, more the midfield terrier I think we need.

Shame the new lad only got 10 minutes though, had 1 decent shot bet in that time, guess that will have upset a few on here as everyone reckons hes better than what we've got (Joel excepted) though no ones seen him play other than Pools staff and the had him on the bench for 80 minutes with Mackay ahead of him. Too early to make a judgement on him as a player based on what we saw tonight.

Good win though, well done Pools

Pitty some of the forwards on the pitch at half time werent still playing, Joe, Bakes, Effo, etc

I couldn't see that until you quoted it!!!!

MacKay worked well for the team, making dummy runs and taking defenders away allowing others to run into the space created, looked for the pass instead of twisting himself into the ground trying to shoot from impossible angles and he had a couple of good attempts in the first half - the difference being these were legitimate attempts when a shot was definitely on. His decision making looked 100% better, he did his share of fetching and carrying from deep and laying it off to the midfielders joining up. Definitely the best "team" performance from him so far.
Good for him to start and last the full 90, that will have done him the world of good and creates more competition if he can maintain it.

Jesus what is it with you, you tell me to shut up, then hurl abuse - take a look at all the posts over the last day or so thats what people have being saying that anyone would be better than what we had up front on Monday despite not having seen him play - if you are honest and other are too I bet the majority on here expected him to start tonight not to get 10 minutes from the bench, I know I did.

He can work for who he likes but he was taking the piss out of us when Leeds scored during the first game we played at Elland Rd.

Glad to keep a clean sheet tonight. Big plus. Glad to win before West Ham. Glad to win to be in the top half of the table. Let's hope some results go our way. The win always looked safe. Northampton were appalling. How did they beat us at Sixfields ? Because I suppose we weren't putting away our chances compared to today at home.

What on earth went on in the Northampton dugout after 75 minutes this evening ?

I'm worried, very worried, how the foook do we replace Joel Porter next season. Impossible unless we have £100 million to buy Kaka!

Porter is the best all round striker in this division. Better than Fryatt, Howard, anyone anybody cares to mention from Leeds or MK Dons - I wouldn't swap him for any of those others.

Surely the replacement was on the bench tonight wasn't he ?

You seem to be in a minority here. He got a fantastic reception, and rightly so. He's a Poolie legend.

Joe Allon and Bakes up in the Maidens suite with the other legends last night. Joe Allon wanted a phot of him and Bakes with Maidens shirt in the background between them because, as he explained to the older legends

' he was a special kid who should have been a legend for better reasons'

I'm quite surprised people think Mackay had a good game last night, he did some decent things like his pass for the first goal and his shot just wide from outside the box but his lack of awareness is painful. Any other player would have gift rapped young Henderson a debut goal late on but he just couldn't get his head up, I don't think it was even greedy he can't see the bigger picture. Joel looked visibly pissed off with him on several occasions. The problem is even though he's as honest as the days long I don't think he's going to get any better.

He tries hard but is too weak on the ball to ever make it in my opinion.

Quite a generalisation there, some players might have, but hes a forward and was in a good postion to score himself - and many forwards would have done what he did - how many times do you see that happen

to say any player is plain stpid

he was at sixfields. i know this for a fact as he was sat 2 rows behind us ( me, nottingham, hawklord, earlsfield dave, etc ) and we were about 4 rows in front of mr parmo.

I was listening on Pools World last night. All I know is there was some sort of tete-a-tete in the Northamton dugout, a fight was even suggested. Can anyone spread some light on this ?

Was that the shot when the keeper made an excellent save yet the referre and linesman decided to give a goal kick

I thought the linesman actually gave a corner initially, but yes that one

I don't feel I need to make out that I was at the game. I know I wasn't at the game. I listened on Pools World and feel I have a right to give an opinion on the game I listened to. I'm very sorry if it sounds as if I was at the game but at least I was following the game live.
