Apologies if anyone here's done it, but just a point.

Me and my brother got a brick in the Centenary Wall. I think it looks really good and I'm glad to have it there - obviously others thought it was a bit of a joke, but regardless my argument's not in that.

I saw a couple where they were basically adverts for local tradesman (e.g. Mr A N Other - quality windows - 01429 000 000). Is it just me, or should the club have stopped people doing this? The business could stop, the phone number could change, anything - I just don't see it as a great addition to something that is to hopefully outlast all of us on here.

Anyone have any opinions on this?

I'm with GingerPoolie on this one, me and the other half stood reading the bricks on the wall over Christmas, some very touching messages, nice to see a big Michael Maidens brick prominent in the centre of them all, then on the right hand side, a bloody advert for a painter and decorator, I was disappointed to say the least.

I think commercial activities should not have been allowed to purchase bricks, it cheapens the thing.

I think it was a tremendous idea but unfortunately because of the materials used and the fact that it hasn't been done by a proper brickie it looks cheap and tatty.

I thought about buying my dad a brick on the wall for his 50th, but when i went down to buy a ticket for the stoke game, i noticed the materials used and how shi t the thing looks. real bricks are not used, they are only a couple of mm think, and it looks like they could have been applied using no more nails or some sort of silicone. it looks cheap and nasty but then again sums the people in charge of activities up at the club!!!!

...come on then, give us an example of the cheap and nasty in action....
How long have you been going to Pools, because writing comments like that would suggest no longer than ten years....

Agree with GP on the advertising brick.
I'm proud and honoured to have my name in the centenary wall for generations to come some one will say when they read it what a good lad he was....

As it happens Snowy you arent far off. I have been attending Pools since i was 10, so 15 years in total, and have only missed 3 home games in that time. All I was saying was cheap sh itty materials are used on the wall. Lets face it it has cost £40 for the smaller brick! NOw i know a single brick costs no where near that. Yeah ok a brickie needs to be paid to lay the brick etc, but it honestly looks in my eyes the bricks are not applied using cement, it looks like they have been siliconed onto the breeze blocks already there.

And my comments about the personel in charge was regarding all of the activities happening around the club at the minute. It seems they never seem to execute anything, and it always seems to take cost cutting into account and cut corners to save a couple of pennies
