gonna buy a tv in the morning and they have a LG 42" reduced from £1000 to £550, its 50,000-1 ratio

A Panasonic 42" reduced by £100 to £499 its a 15,000-1

Which is better?

Well the LG is more or less half price so i'd go for that. Mind, i'd book it online immediately, booked mine on xmas day last year but the only store which had it on was the currys on a trading estate near middlesbrough, ever tried getting a 42 inch tv in a peugeot 206

Panasonic is a proper make.
LG (formerly Goldstar) is the Korean Philips: Jack of all trades, master of none.

I worked at Samsung in Billingham years ago and we made tv tubes for Samsung, Phillips, LG, Matsui, Sanyo and almost any other make you can think of. All the tubes were exactly the same apart they had a different sticker on!!

Exactly.

Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba etc., the proper makes, don't buy the joblot tubes.
