Budtz 7 : Did OK, waved goodbye to one speculative cross in the first half, but also made a couple of excellent one on one blocks. Jury still out.

Sweeney 8 : Excellent game, imoroves every time i see him at right back. Brilliant engine, and enough pace to make up for the occasional slip in positioning. Tackled well all night.

Nelson 8 : One of his better games, never looked like really dropping a ballock, apart from one blocked pass in the first half. Strong in the air and as determined to win every challenge as he has been for a while. Great contribution to an improved defence.

Collins 8 : Turns slower than an oil tanker, but was dominant in the air again. Looks like he's been told to stop trying to play football and just dominate physically. Read the game well and won every fifty-fifty. Much improved.

Humphreys 8 : Hardly put a foot wrong and linked up well with Matty. he's never going to be a sprinter again, but I thought he had a good steady game defensively and looked to get forward and beyond Matty whenever possible.

Jones 7 : Playing out of position, but I thought he did well. Covered for Sweeney a lot in the first half when the full back tucked in and as such couldn't get forward, but looked much freer in the second. Very high levels of fitness

Liddle 7 : Steady game, won a lot of challenges, but also got caught a few times in possession.

Clark 9 : My MOM. Worked his knackers off in the middle, won every challenge and got us going forward regularly. Excellent performance from the first name on the team-sheet. Deserved a rest for the last ten.

Robson 8.5 : Very close to MOM. His enthusiasm is infectious, and you can see the confidence growing when he takes people on. Still a bit unpolished, but scored an absolute screamer and could have had another couple. Well done son.

Porter 8 : Intelligent performance from Joel and was as instrumental in getting us the three points as much as anyone. Found and made space at will and laid on the first goal beautifully. Another one who deserved a rest in an intelligent substitution.

Kyle 8 : Mr Inconsistency. On that showing I would love us to sign him, but I think the uncertainty of his situation gets to him at times. Looked mad keen last night, and took both his goals well. No sulking, no whinging, just a lot of graft. Defended well and put in some huge tackles.

SUBS

Mackay 6: Does seem to be going backwards a bit. I'm a big fan of his enthusiasm, but he needs to step up when he comes on. Had a couple of chances to get shots away but didn't.

Monkhouse 7: More than anyone else I think he'll benefit from the new manager. Looks like he needs a cuddle now and again to get the best out of him, but he looked determined to make his mark during his short spell on the pitch.

TURNER/BUTTERWORTH : After Danny's inactivity, it was refreshing to see our management team looking like they were enjoying themselves. Tubby nearly took off for each of our goals and the constant encouraging and advice sees to have worked a treat last night. They had a gameplan and made sure everyone stuck to it. WELL DONE !!!

VERDICT : Very early days, but there already seems to be a change in the mood of the team/squad. turner is superb at PR and he's got everyone on side very quickly with some well planned words. The team looked energised last night and the whole atmosphere was better. Long may it continue, and perhaps if he's got Uncle Ken's blessing, he might have some dosh to spend. MUCH BETTER.
