We were 3-0 down at half time against the Loids (I rememeber the game kicked off early because England were playing in the egg chasing World Cup final) and Ian Bennyworth was subbed. He never played for the club again, it was rumoued that a huge dressing room bust up had taken place at half time.

Anyone remember the last game of the season at Wrexham the season before we were promoted in 90/91?

About 150 poolies in the terrace behind the goal. Losing 1 nil at half time, we score twice in the second half in the end where the poolies were stood (ahhhhhhhh, it's seems like it was only yesterday). Anyway, my point is the pools players threw their shirts into the crowd at the end of the game and I got the shirt of the one and only Ian Bennyworth. I had to take it on the train back to Kingston (where I was living at the time) and it was dripping in sweat, absolutely humming it was

The 4-1 win over scarborough that year also stands out to me, maybe as it was his former club.

I was also at that 4 nil defeat at Darlo, his last game. I got off the train at York on the way home and watched the Egg chasing final in the pub near the railway station with a group of lesbian hockey players, sorry I diagress bbolt

Mick Smith is the hardest footballer I've seen playing for Pools

I've got Bennyworth's shorts from the '91 promotion game. They have pride of place in my undercracker drawer.

I was too far towards the exits by the time the players threw their shirts over, so I had no chance. Who got whose shirts then, anyone on here?

Do you ever wear them?
Thats a weird question isn't it, sorry.
Actually I've just re-read that, i thought you said you had his undercrackers.
Of course not why's he going to throw them into crowd.
Once again sorry. sadx
