It seems like a its going to be a pretty low turn out of poolies for saturdays game. All the lads who I sit with have decided to give it a miss, mainly due to it being £27 to get in. Last season we were booking coaches, planning trains, this year nobodys bothered, it seems to be been there twice, seen it all fook the greedy bastards.

With the recession etc.... its shocking they can charge £27 to watch a 3rd division game

I can't see it being 3/4ths of that in all honesty. I'm still going but through gritted teeth!

The wife and I will be there showing our support as usual. £27 is a bit steep mind - who would have believed we'd be a Category A game at Leeds Utd just a few years back!

We brought almost a thousand for the Carling Cup with prices £15. So the question is will people pay £12 for a Saturday league game?

I am off, although there's no travelling expenses for me.

£16+ a game on the season ticket - 32,000 Saturday. All systems go at ER if we could only defend  Does any football club truly care about their fans I wonder.

£9 per game on my season ticket.

Leeds know that they are guaranteed 20000+ per game as they have been a top six club in England in recent memory. Those goodtime fans don't just disappear. It would be astonishing if Leeds's attendances were NOT 20k+. So the club happily rapes its fans for 25+ quid per game while the going's good. I would love to see them stick around this division for a decade and watch the fans disappear and then realise they can't get away with fleecing their own. THEN we would see them struggle. Sadly, it's very unlikely that Leeds won't be promoted within the next three years, so their grasping board will get away with it.

But I have a seat, Billy's Bar, Members Lounge, The Champions of Europe :coool:

Funny thing is the price is high because the game is category A. Had Bates declared it category C the price would have been much better but you surely don't see yourselves as a poor draw

Joking apart it's a shame you won't be taking up your full allocation and you will find much sympathy amongst the ER faithful who feel that Bates is having a laugh every week. Me, I pay because I know no better. But buying all the best players is stretching it a bit Chip - Elding sctatchinghead

That is the bit that I don't understand, we are playing in the 3rd division there should be no such thing as category A, B, C or whatever

Yes you do. The bigger the name, the bigger the game, the bigger the gate, the bigger the profit.

Despite the risk of putting the thread back on topic, I've just bought tickets for the Leeds game and according the the lovely Ms Precious so far only 250 have been sold. Looks like the season ticket holders don't fancy the trip.

Just a Half, not that I'm in favour of paying £27 for third division football, but it's only a couple of pints more expensive than the Vic'.

So if, and it's a BIG if, we got the the autoglass trophy, or whatever it's called, you wouldn't pay £27 to watch it?
Or by some miracle we got to the FA cup final, you wouldn't get your chubby little hand into your very long pocket and shell out the cash?

Or would you ponce the the ticket from someone else???

I pay £1.39 for Sam Smith's finest bitter after the game on match days in Leeds City Centre to help balance the books - swings and roundabouts

I don't plan to spend any money in the ground thus starving the Yorkshire gets of money I'd have usually handed over if it had been £20/£22.

As it's £3 a pint in there I could have spent anything between £15-£20 once you include food so the tossers have lost out there. I hope others follow suit.

Most people would have done in all honesty as many would get there at 1 o'clock, drunk until 2.50 and then another pint at half time. Those 3 pounds soon rack up. Not from me they won't though!

i just hope that when pools take about 60 per cent less fans to the game than they did last season, the leeds board get the message that we are doing it in protest, not because we dont love our team.

I may be wrong here but even with 60% less Pools' fan's there it wont really show any sort of loss, with regards to actual gate receipt.

I'm sure FA rules state that fan's from both teams have to be charged the same amount, for the equivalent seat that they occupy. Meaning Leeds fan's who pay on the day will have to pay an increase just the same. Or if a category 'C' game less than they will on Saturday.

So if we were to start to categorise our games in the same way, then under FA rules we would have to increase the prices for the CK and Camerons Brewery stands. This would,in my opinion, reduce the number of floating Pools' fans attending. With such a small capacity, I believe we couldnt do that, for economic reasons.

How many games could we as a club categorise as an 'A' game, probably Leeds, Darlington (if they ever get in same division again). Even clubs were police presence would be high (Millwall) would not be in Pools best interest to make category 'A'. Just my opinion.

I'll be there but like Tax paying Poolie will boycott sales of food/drink etc within the ground, meaning spending less but still watching Pools'. I did this on my visits to francise dons, and will continue to do so.

i completely fail to get your point bob sctatchinghead sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

last season we took how many ? say 2700 for arguments sake. say 2000 of them were adults paying £25 quid i make that £50,000 they made from the away adult attendance.

this season say we take 1000, and 700 are adults paying £27 quid, then they will make £18,900 from adult attendance meaning a loss of 31 grand in adult attendance alone, before you start talking about pies, beer, programmes etc.

of course if no pools fans whatsoever went, then leeds would be about 100 grand down on last season.

which would be very funny. indeed it might stop them buying another striker or two if all away fans did it.

as for leeds fans attending on the day, i accept that they are being fleeced too, but isnt it down to them to protest about it if they arent happy ? in any event arent the majority now season ticket holders or members ?

there was a big hoo hah last season when they announced play off tickets would go to their members and season ticket holders first, and then to fans who agreed to buy a season ticket for 2008-2009, essentially blackmailing them into buying them in advance. sure i read somewhere that their season ticket holder figure for this season is over 10,000.

I prob put it wrong in original reply.

Across the board, the loss is quite easily compensated, using your figures,

revenue loss from Pools fans( attendance only) -£31,000

Attendance last year 26877 on your figures that means approx 24100 Leeds fans minus 10000 season ticket holders this season means approx 14100 Leeds fans at £2 extra revenue from own fans now +£28,200. Income on gate receipt down approx £2-£3k. They will lose on food/drink sales in the Pools end but probably make on it in the home end as prices would have been increased.

My point originally , though put badly is that the actual revenue from all fans is not much less than last year.

Now if they were to have made the game a category 'B' fixture, prices would have been reduced to £22. (about right price for 3rd tier football in my opinion).

That £2-£3k loss would be a profit on the corresponding game last season as (using your figures again) the 700 Pools fans only have to increase to 860 to generate the same income.
