I nominate Noddy Holder to have had the single best voice in rock and roll history!! How many of these x-factor rarfs have got the sheer vocal range and power of Noddy? Plus he can do the business live, a lot of these singers can't do it without the aid of studio editing to make them sound better than they are!!

Speaking of musicky reality shows, did anyone see a programme a couple of weeks back where they took some young kids from a classical music academy and formed them into a raunchy rock group?

Now that was mint!

As for Noddy, yep he rasped!!

I hereby nominate the worst raspy voiced singer ever: Rod Stewart. The very definition of boredom.

Listen to him singing Handbags & Gladrags then listen to Chris Farlow singing it to see what I mean.

Best thing about Noddy's voice (And Brian Johnson's) is that although they are rasping, they are in bloody high keys! Believe me, we've played "Cum On Feel The Noize" a few times over the years and sadly it's based on Oasis's version which is in a much much lower key than Slades.

Rod's lost it nowadays..last time I saw him (1999) everything had been dropped down a key and he was pacing himself big-style barely singing at all on some songs and letting the audience take the strain . (R.Williams, another one who can't sing, has made a career out of this trick.)

Robbie Williams, like a modern day Les Dawson, but not as funny or as musically talented
